Verizon releases Android 2.1 update for Motorola Droid

Written by quickpwn

Today Verizon released the Android 2.1 update for Motorola Droid users. If you’re a Motorola Droid user, you may not see the Android 2.1 update just yet. According to Engadget, Verizon is sending the updates in batches, so you may not receive the update until April 1 at the latest.

Here is a list of new features in Android 2.1 for Motorola Droid:

  • Yahoo Mail is supported now
  • Pinch to zoom is enabled in browser/maps/gallery
  • Customers can type using speech-to-text whenever a text-box appears
  • Google Googles is preloaded
  • New Gallery application has 3D layout and shows pictures taken with Droid and also from Google’s Picasa Albums.

There is still no word about Flash on the Droid, but I believe it will be available as a plugin that can be downoaded from Android Market once it’s released.
