I know many of you here are anxiously waiting for an iPhone 3.0 jailbreak!  Firstly, have you updated to iPhone OS 3.0? If you haven’t already, launch iTunes and click “Check for Update” to update to the latest iPhone 3.0 release. iPod Touch users will need to pay $9.95 for this update, if you’re already on iPod Touch 2.2.1 though you can download it without having to pay the $9.95 fee.

The Dev Team recently released redsn0w, at first I was not going to post it here because a lot of users have e-mailed me saying that redsn0w had bugs and it kept crashing for them. I just tried it on both Mac and PC and experienced no problem. As of right now redsn0w only works with iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 1G, and iPod Touch 2G. You can jailbreak iPhone 3GS, however a jailbreak for it has not been released yet!

iPhone 3G users: iPhone 3G users, you can unlock your iPhone 3G 3.0 using ultrasn0w. ultrasn0w is Dev Team’s new unlock for iPhone 3.0. Remember, don’t update to future iPhone 3.0 updates without checking here first if you want to keep your 3G unlock, Apple may permanently block this unlock in their next update.

iPhone 3.0 Beta 3 jailbroken

On April 14 Apple released iPhone OS 3.0 beta 3 build 7A280f to developers. You know the drill! With each update comes a new jailbreak. Even though iPhone OS 3.0 is still in beta, developers still want to keep the jailbreak. Especially developers that develop for the jailbroken app store. As of this post, iPhone 3.0 Beta 3 jailbreak has been released! Remember, this is an “unofficial release” as it is not created by the iPhone Dev Team. The latest iPhone 3.0 beta 3 firmware has noticeably improved in speed and performance so it’s worth the update. As of right now you can only jailbreak on the iPhone 3.0 Beta 3, iPhone 3G 3.0 beta 3, and iPod Touch 1st Gen 3.0 beta 3 firmware. Support for iPod Touch 2nd gen has not been added. Saurik is working on adding support for Cydia on iPhone OS 3.0 so it won’t work yet. Jailbreaking with this release will install the Icy app created by RipDev. Once you’ve jailbroken you can launch Icy, refresh the sources and install OpenSSH to SSH into it. If you need any help please join the iPhone OS 3.0 discussion board and you can get help there. iPod Touch 3.0 jailbroken with Icy App

Any iPhone Devs want to jailbreak iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 2 software? Jailbreak 3.0 Beta 2 is out! This is an unofficial release and it’s not created by the iPhone Dev Team. I know there are iPhone developers out there who want to upgrade to iPhone 3.0, iPod Touch 3.0, or iPhone 3G 3.0, but also want to keep their jailbreak.  The Russian hacker Vortex has once again released an unofficial jailbreak at iPhoneApps.ru. I tried it on my iPod Touch with firmware 3.0 beta 2 and it works! You can only jailbreak on the iPhone 3.0 Beta 2, iPhone 3G 3.0 beta 2, and iPod Touch 1st Gen beta 3.0. It’s 3.2 MB only because it install’s RiPDev’s Icy program. Once you’ve jailbroken you need to open Icy, refresh all the sources and install OpenSSH to jailbreak. If you need any help please join the iPhone OS 3.0 forums and ask for help there. This is download is only for Windows users.
