So Apple has finally released their new iPod Touch 3rd generation today. I’ll do a Zune HD vs new iPod Touch 3rd generation comparison once I get my Zune HD. For now here are some specs.
Zune HD
Display: 3.3 inch touchscreen, OLED
Software: Zune Firmware 3.0
Memory: 16 GB/32GB
Colors: Black, Platinum, Blue, Lime green, and red
Price: $219.99/$289.99
Music Store: Zune Marketplace
Applications Store: Not yet, but there has been strong evidence that Microsoft may be starting one.
WiFi: Yes
Touchscreen keyboard and accelerometor
HD Video Radio: Yes
HD out: Yes
iPod Touch 3rd Generation
Display: 3.5 inch touchscreen, no OLED
Software: iPhone OS 3.1
Memory: 8GB/32 GB/64 GB
Colors: Black
Price: $199/$299/$399
Music Store: iTunes
Applications Store: Yes
WiFi: Yes
Touchscreen keyboard and accelerometer
HD Radio: No
HD Video out:No
Once my Zune HD arrives, I’ll be comparing the two. Of course the iPhone/iPod Touch software beats the Zune HD, because of the App Store and all the interesting applications it offers. The Zune HD is not intended to compete with that, it’s trying to be one of the best music players and I think that the Zune HD will be do better than the iPod Touch as a music player. What do you think?

While the new iPod Nano 5th generation has a camera, the new iPod Touch 3rd Generation doesn’t have a camera. A lot of us were expecting Apple to release the iPod Touch 3rd generation with a camera! We even found what looked like iPod Touch 3rd Generation cases online, but now we know that they’re fake. It really surprised us when Apple announced the camera for only the new iPod Nao.
I’m not sure why Apple would do this, but they could have possibly done it because they want to give iPod Touch users another reason to get the iPhone 3GS for the extra camera feature. I don’t see any reason for me to upgrade my current iPod Touch, so I’ll stick with my iPod Touch 1st generation device. Yes, I have the first generation. Until Apple introduces some significant changes to the iPod Touch 8 GB model I’m going to be saving my money.
Apple, you have made it really easy for me now. I’ll be preordering the Zune HD.

Today is September 9, 2009. Apple will be holding their It’s Only Rock and Roll Live Event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco at 1:00 PM Est/ 10:00 AM Pacific time.
Apple is expected to reveal the new iPod Touch 3rd Generation (with camera), iPod nano 5th generation, and iTunes 9 software update. The prices of the iPod Classic were reduced, and the Apple Store is down right now. In about an hour from now we will be live blogging the Apple Rock and Roll event on QuickPWN.com. Be sure to come back here to check for the latest updates on what Apple is announcing! We will be posting and also updating twitter (@QuickPWN).
Are you excited about this event today? What are your predictions? Leave them in the comments and you can compare later to see if you were right.

Before the Apple Store went down, Apple had reduced the price of the iPod Touch, iPod Nano, and iPod Classic models. The price changes are listed below.
Price changes:
- iPod Touch 8 GB: Was $229, now $189
- iPod Touch 32 GB: Was $399, now $279
- iPod Nano 16 GB: Was $199, now $149
- iPod Classic 120 GB: Was $249, now $229
It’s obvious that these prices were changed in preparation for the new iPod Touch 3rd Generation and new iPod Nano’s that Apple will be announcing at their live event today. At 1 PM Est/10 AM Pacific Apple will hold their It’s Only Rock and Roll event.

Yes, the Apple Store is down. Just a couple hours before their September 9 announcement in the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Apple has closed their store and are updating it.
I’m not surprised, and you shouldn’t be either. The Apple Store went down in last year’s maintenance, and also when Snow Leopard was released. There is no doubt that the new iPod Touch 3rd Generation, the new iPod Nano, and iTunes 9 will be added. It won’t be on there yet, you’ll need to wait until the official announcement which will be on 1 PM Est/10 AM Pacific. There will be a live blog of the events on QuickPWN.com and we’ll be covering everything Apple adds. Stay tuned!

Although the new iPod Touch third generation has not been officially announced by Apple yet, Best Buy has already added the Belkin iPod Touch Third generation case on their website. Oops, I’m sure Steve Jobs must not be happy with them right now!
In case the item gets removed from Best Buy’s website I’ve added a screenshot above. The new iPod Touch 3rd Generation will be announced by Apple tomorrow at their September 9 event in Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. We will be doing live coverage and reporting on the event tomorrow at 1 PM Est time/10 AM Pacific on QuickPWN.com.

Tomorrow, September 9, 2009 is the day when Apple will be holding the “It’s only rock and roll” event. This event will be held in Yerba Buena Center for the Arts at 1 PM Est (10 AM Pacific).
If you look closely at the picture for this event, you’ll notice that the headphones are at the bottom of the iPod. This indicates that the iPod in the picture is an iPod Touch and not an iPod Classic. Apple is most likely going to discontinue the iPod Classic and release a newer iPod Touch.
Here is what I believe Apple will be releasing on September 9:
1. iPod Touch 3rd Generation – The iPod Touch 3rd generation is expected to be released tomorrow. It will have a camera that allows you to take pictures and videos. The new iPod Touch 3rd generation will also have faster speeds than the current iPod Touch.
2. New iPod Nano – There are rumors of Apple launching a new iPod Nano just like they did at last year’s September 9 event.
3. iTunes 9 – iTunes 8 was released on September 9, and it would not surprise me if Apple releases iTunes 9 on tomorrow’s event. iTunes 9 will have blu-ray support, social integration, and also allow you to manage your apps and rearrange them on your iPhone/iPod Touch screen right from iTunes.
