Jailbreaking and Unlocking your iPhone 3G, Posted 06-20-2009, 06:48 AM #1 (permalink)
This first guide is for the first version of Redsnow. The post further below under the heading Redsnow V0.7.2 is for the second version, which is the most current. I used the first version, so I will try to answer questions about the second version, however I will not be able to give you a definate answer.

Redsnow V 0.7.1 Guide

Make sure that your iPhone is upgraded to 3.0 through iTunes 8.2

Note: Method Two is a lot quicker then Method 1. It is technically the same, however you skip Step 5 - Step 7.

Method One

Step 1. Download 0.7.1 at http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4965...sn0w-win_0.7.1
Step 2. Extract redsn0w-win_0.7 to C:
Step 3. Locate your 3.0 firmware, and copy it to C:\redsn0w-win_07
Step 4. Open run, then type cmd.
Step 5. Type in cd C:\redsn0w-win_07
Step 6. Type redsn0w.exe (the name of the ipsw).
Eg for Step 6. redsn0w.exe iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

Step 7. Wait for a message to come up saying please connect your iPhone into DFU mode.
Then connect your iPhone to the computer if you havent already done so, and hold down
the Power and Home buttons for 10 sec. (If the apple screen comes up you have gone too far)
Then let go of the Power but keep holding onto the Home button. Hold it for at least 30 sec or
until it reconnects to the computer.

Step 8. Go to the Command Prompt window and press enter.

And then when your iphone restarts, you can disconnect.

Method Two

Step 1. Download 0.7.1 at http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4965...sn0w-win_0.7.1
Step 2. Extract redsn0w-win_0.7 to C:
Step 3. Locate your 3.0 firmware, and copy it to C:\redsn0w-win_07
Step 4. Drag and drop 3.0 firmware onto redsn0w.exe
Step 5.
Step 6. Go to the Command Prompt window and press enter.

How to Unlock with Ultrasn0w.

Ok. Try searching the computer for iPhone.

If that doesn't work it should be (for vista): Users, (Your Name), App Data, Roaming, Apple Computer, iTunes, iPhone Software Update.

Make sure you have enabled hidden files. You can do this by going to Folder Options in the Control Panel and selecting the box saying show hidden files

Ok so you typed it incorrectly. Make sure that the firmware is exactly correct, with Capitals and Spelling. If it is correct, did you place the firmware in the same folder?
