different issue, Posted 02-02-2009, 09:47 AM #23 (permalink)
Hi SE7EN SIN,

Let me brief you first, I am using, I guess, unlocked/jailbroken iPhone 3G. On the day I baught it, I updated it through iTunes and it went onto the 'Emergency Call' mode and also said that Insert the valid Sim Card. It was unlocked/opened by a shopkeeper thus don't know how and by which tools. Now, I came to know about various methods to use firmware updates without getting the phone locked by iTunes.

I tried to restore and update through iTunes by clicking Shift Key and selecting the fiemware 2.2 (I downloaded it) but in both try a msg came that iTunes can't do it. At the same time on the screen of my phone a Penguin comes and 'iPhoneLinux.org' is written below.

Thanks to QuickPwn 2.2-1 which said click and hold the Sleep & Home button for 15 sec and the phone started again as usual.

Now, with all this information, can you guide me to update/upgrade my phone to 2.2 where I also can use any GSM SIM and add any application (Is it unlock and jailbreak?).

In the system the Version is 2.0.2 (5C1) & Modem Firmware is 04.05.04_G

Please help me!!!

NisB

First Time Jailbreak - Bricked, Posted 02-03-2009, 03:31 PM #24 (permalink)
This was the first time i tried to jail break my Iphone 3g 16GB 2.2.1 and the phone bricked on me after the Finished part with the Pineapple logo. I waited for so long and nothing happens. I also restarted by holding down the home + power to restarted it and it's just stuck on pineapple screen. So i read another thread about restoring it on itunes, so now it's being restored! Afraid to try it a second time. any pointers or tips about this situation and to why it's being bricked? it's a real time killer when this happens.

Thanks,
Norm

A lot of people need to know this.

Ok Kill Switch is made by Apple to force iPhone's and iPod touch and iPod's into DFU
Which means it kills your Apple Mobile Device, in a good way.

What You Need:
iPhone, iPod touch, computer with iTunes, sync cord, internet.

What To Do:
1.) Turn off your iPhone, iPod touch, (if it is stuck at boot logo apple or pineapple hold down HOME and POWER)

2.) After iPhone or iPod touch is fully off make sure your iTunes is open, plug the sync cord into your computer, next hold down HOME as you plug in your sync cord.

3.) While you hold down HOME you should see connect to iTunes, iTunes should say iPod or iPhone found in Recovery mode. Just hit restore and your iPhone or iPod will be fixed.

This is used for anything and everything. Also if you "find" and iPhone or iPod touch with a password this will also take the password away..

Tried unlocking my iphone 3G with quickpwn, and whilst it was going through the process I accidentally pulled the usb cable out of my iphone. After that it seemed to do nothing for about 30 minutes.
I couldn't get the programme to close so I ended up switching my Macbook off then restarted it. I now can't turn my iphone on which is a bit worrying!

Can anyone help please!!!
