    Question Jailbreaking help!

Ok, I am a BIG noob at this and almost don't know a thing about this, but anyway...
I wanna to jailbreak my iPhone 1g (and i have a Mac), but I don't know what to do!

I read that I need to download QuickPwn, and I did, but when I plug in my iPhone, a message says "The firmware installed on your iPhone is not supported by QuickPwn, please check our website for further information". What do I do now?

I read some place in this forum that I had to download an official iPhone 2.2 firmware. I did that, and when I unzipped the program, the .dmg file showed up. two of them didn't work, but the last one (018-4380-1.dmg) needed a password. And what is that password? And what do I do next?

    Please help me.

Well ive got to run so i'll give ya some steps that sound like what your asking. If your trying to jailbreak 2.2 make sure you have wuickpwn 2.2-5, download the 2.2 ipsw file from iPhoneFix.de V2oo9.2 - Largest iPhone related filebase on .NET! No.1 File Source!, click downloads section, the click ftp, then click firmware system, then select and download iPhone1,1_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw to your desktop or a folder you can find easily

Plug in your phone to your computer

    Start quickpwn 2.2-5

select the firmware you downloaded previously- and it should come up with a big check mark if OK

Select only install cydia. DO NOT check activate/boot logos/installer(can be installed via cydia)

the hit the next arrow and follow the on screen guide to putting your phone into recovery

once in recovery quickpwn will take over, once done let your phone reboot and your jailbroken!

Let me know if it works!

OK for system firmware you can do it one of two ways, from your iphone settings-general-about( you want to check what it says for "version"

Or plug your phone into itunes and on the info tab under your iphone it will show you at the top.

Check these BEFORE you try and jailbreak again, if you have 2.2 follow my last post, if you have 2.2.1 you'll need quickpwn 2.2-5 which can be found in this sites download section, and you will need to download the firmware iPhone1,1_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw from iphonefix.de if it shows 2.2.1 but still follow last posts instructions.

When quickpwn asks you to match your firmware select that file you downloaded. if correctly matched a big check mark should come up in quickpwn
