You can only jailbreak it but you cannot unlock it. iPhone 3G users who want to unlock shouldn't jailbreak yet because this firmware updates their baseband.

Just curious. On my unlocked iphone 2g i am currently running the 2.2 software. i am guessing that this new 2.2.1 firmware is working well. but how do you upgrade from the older firmware? im hoping i dont have to restore my phone and lose any applications, settings, or contacts.

all in all, how do I upgrade from 2.2 to 2.2.1 on my 2g iphone?
