Okay ditch pwnage tool - use quickpwn and click the link in my signature and follow the directions. I think pwnage tool is for macs - not sure how you were able to run it on a PC.

Anyhow download the firmware for 2.2.1 from here or Apple's site, download QuickPWN 2.2.5 (the version numbers don't match), and follow the directions in the link. That should help.

To you guys and gals having issues with jailbreaking your iPod touch gen 2 I'm not ignoring you - I just have no idea how to go about jailbreaking them and I don't want to give you guys and gals any advice that could potentially brick your iPods. I know there is a way to do it but without any experience doing it myself - like I have with the iPhone 3Gs - I don't want to steer you wrong.

Anyone on here who has jailbroken your iPod Touch gen 2, let us know how you did it. Thanks.

To give a bit of clarification Jailbreaking is the process that allows you to run non Apple approved apps such as themes, video recording, and other apps Apple does not like... Unlocking allows you to use your phone with another GSM carrier that is not Apple approved.

Also what steps did you follow when jailbreaking?
Did you use a custom firmware? I've had issues with them where I was not able to connect to my carrier (AT&T) but everything else worked...
Was the iPhone at factory specs (i.e. no personal info, no activated phone number, no media present on unit)?
Have you attempted to resync with iTunes to get your media back?
Did you do a sync and backup with iTunes prior to jailbreaking?

Without knowing any of the above it almost sounds like you might need to simply resync with iTunes. Give that a try if you already haven't.
----------- No, I don't think its Apple Authorized carrier
----- I Used QuickPwn to create and upload IPSW. yeah after jailbreaking, all the functions are perfectly working except GSM network is not availble.
----- Yes it is a Brand new iphone (factory specs) Not activated. After jail breaking it could connect with iTunes and sync, before it wasn't. The firmware is 2.2.2_5H the modem version is 02.30.00.
Can you please help me to unlock properly and use any GSM carrier,

Thanks in advance,
Abi

install freezes...., Posted 06-14-2009, 01:17 AM #505 (permalink)
So, this was a solution for me - I hope it helps someone else...I repeatedly tried to jailbreak my iphone under vista-64 but it'd always lock at the same place - and getting the phone into that break-me mode was a task in of itself...hold this, click that, pray, un-plug, plug...amg...

Then, during the repeated restore operations, I noticed that the phone wasn't charging even though the batter-power indicator said it was. The phone was plugged into an external powered USB 2.0 hub.

So, I moved the usb cradle to a port directly off the PC and QuickPwn ripped through on the first go...

So, check your USB port - it may not have the power it needs to do the stuff it does.

Lol...
