Keeping Old Apps, Posted 01-30-2009, 03:45 AM #24 (permalink)
If i go ahead and update in itunes to 2.2.1 then jailbreak with the new quickpwn 2.2.1 I loose all the apps I have downloaded from Cydia. Installer etc right? Is there a way of saving them? Or do I not lose them at all?

Cheers

It did make my iPhone do a couple things and then showed the picture of the USB cable with arrow pointing to iTunes, but it never moved to the next step where I was supposed to hold the home button down. After a while I just tried the next steps since the program was moving nowhere, but it didn't accomplish anything. Eventually I reset the phone and tried it all again, but same result.
You have resolved your problem? For I too have this problem: (

iPhone 2G previously at 2.1 and jailbroken/unlocked

1. Upgraded iTunes and restored iPhone to 2.2.1 and worked fine.
2. Using Macbook Pro so downloaded developer hack since wouldn't notice it in DFU
3. Now noticeable in DFU
4. PwnageTool the 2.2.1 just fine
5. Followed advice in DFU, noticed in iTunes as restore mode, option+click and directed to jailbroken 2.2.1 and immediately given error 21.

This doesn't make sense, iTunes has no problems restoring the normal version 2.2.1 but the PwnageTool version will run into some kind of error.

Tried uninstalling iTunes and installing the 7.7 version and got a different error (6). When I left DFU and ran in restore mode I got error 2000 something or 6000 something. I've tried this on different computers and different USBs. Something is still up this just will not work despite the fact that the normal restore works fine.

Please save me.

***Edit: Re-restored 2.2.1 firmware. Re-downloaded PwnageTool 2.2.5. Re-did the rip and re-ran everything for the 10th time today. Finally worked. God bless.
