Finally able to downgrade, Posted 01-29-2009, 02:35 AM #22 (permalink)
I was having the same problem some other people seem to be having. I have a jailbroken iPhone 3G and my carrier is AT&T. After upgrading to the 2.2.1 firmware and loosing all my jailbroken apps I tried to downgrade to 2.2. Everytime I would try to restore to 2.2 it would appear that the iPhone was going to restore but at some point during the restore process I would get an error that said the restore had failed due to an unknown error. After many attempts I finally found something that seemed to work. This is what I did.
- I would attempt to restore the firmware to 2.2 and when I got the error I unhooked the iPhone and closed itunes.
- I hooked the iPhone back up and opened quickPWN. I would get a message that told me to hold down the home and power button at the same time for 10 sec and then just the power button for 2 sec.
-The phone would restart and boot to a screen that said slide for emergency. At this point I still could not get to the springboard or anything else and the phone had no signal.
- I started itunes and allowed the phone to sync and got a message that said iphone activated and I had signal and could get to my home screen.
- I then started quickpwn again and allowed it to jailbreak my phone.
Maybe it was just a fluke but hopefully this info will help someone else.

When I press shift and restore on itunes, it does not give me the option to switch to older firmwares (even though I have 1.XX and 2.2 on my computer. After the restore, its still 2.2.1. Any Ideas??
and once it does work and I rejailbreak it, will I have to re-install all of my cydia apps, and change files around for ssh again??

I have a 2g iphone, but I do not get the possibility to "restore" at all.

I only have a screen saying : (translated from Danish)"The SIM Card in this Iphone does not seems to be supportet"
I dont get the possibility to restore, so what do I do ??

I can only click om my iphone in itunes, to "push out".

I'm sorry but... why would you post a "solution" to downgrading your iPhone from 2.2.1 to 2.2, on the website's main page, if it clearly does not work?

I got the same error 1013...
