Um... where do I get the 2.2 file? When I download it, it's just a file, that I can't use. Any suggestions?

Yeah, I'm a little confused by the last bit too.

Surely you would have to have downloaded 2.2 first and saved it on your desktop or some place? Right??

I tried this earlier today and can't select the downloaded 2.2 because it does not appear as a .IPSW file.

Can someone please explain the last part with more detail??

I'm also on a Mac.

I am using an jailbreak unlocked iphone 3G and have accidentally upgraded to firmware 2.2.1. When I tried to jailbreak again, the QuickPWN will not allow me to do so because it does nto reconize 2.2.1. I tried to restore the firmware back to ver 2.2 by using the "shift-restore" on the summary page of itunes. The process went okay until itunes tried to put firmware 2.2 back to my phone. It stopped during the firmware restore screen and came back with an error message saying
" The iphone "iphone" could not be restored. An unknow error occured (1013)."

Now itunes will not even allow me to activate the phone because I do not have a proper SIM card. Therefore I cannot even us the phone as a PDA.

I am stuck. Any advise from anybody?

Im having the same problem!!When my phone is restoring to 2.2 using the shift-restore an error called 1013 occurs!I think this happen with most of the 3g iphones! This tutorial only works on 2G iphones! We need to wait until dev team came out with a solution! Its possible to jailbreak your 2.2.1 iphone using a mac an the pwnagetool for 2.2.1 available to download in this site! Its possible to emulate a mac computer under a pc but its very complicated...anyway im trying this method and i will report some information soon! Thanks brothers!

Semi bricked after trying downgrade, Posted 01-29-2009, 12:38 AM #19 (permalink)
I have tried downgrading to 2.2 and 2.1... both ended up with the same 1013 error. The only way that I could get the iphone 3G working again is to put 2.2.1 back. At least it is not a dead brick....
