iPodTouch 2G Jailbreaking error, Posted 02-04-2009, 02:24 PM #1 (permalink)
Hello Guys, i hope you can help me finally!

Ok so to my problem:
Every time i try to Open the .ipsw file with QuickPwn (Selecting it) i get the Error:

The IPSW file you selected does not match any firmware version QuickPwn supports. Either the IPSW file is corrupted, or the firmware version is unsupported.

OK so my question is: WHAT THE FUCK?

I already tried:
- Complete reset of the ipod (with deleting everything)
- Reloading the .ipsw file

Hardware:
iPod Touch 2G (Firmware 2.2.1)

Software (both files from QuickPWN.com):
IPSW FILE: iPod2,1_2.2.1_5H11a_Restore.ipsw
QuickPWN version: 2.2.5-2

PLEAZE HALP!!!

redsn0w lite, Posted 02-04-2009, 03:31 PM #2 (permalink)
currently the only way to jailbreak the 2g ipod touch is with redsn0w lite. the dev team released it a few days ago while they continue working on an untethered jailbreak. there are quite a few guides for using it both on windows and mac, if you google search you'll find them easily.

it's somewhat of a manual jailbreak though, and is not supported by the dev team. but you'll find plenty of support in forums. i used it a few days ago and it works fine. i suggest paying VERY CLOSE attention to the instructions in the guides. also, once you jailbreak if you need to reboot your ipod you must connect to the computer and use the boot tool that you download during the jailbreak process -- hence the reason it's a "tethered" jailbreak.

it's definitely not hard to do, just tedious making sure you don't type something wrong.
