Ipod Touch 2nd Gen Wont Turn On, Posted 07-06-2009, 01:30 AM #1 (permalink)
i need help urgently,
i started off with a jailbroken 2.2.1 2nd gen ipod touch, then backed it up and restored it to factory settings
then i updated to 3.0 firmware from felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
for ipod touch 2nd gen
i did this by shift clicking and finding the ipsw file on my desktop
then after it restored and updated to 3.0 it asked me if i wanted to put the backup on it so i did because i have important passwords on my 1password app
after this was done it was fine and had 3.0 firmware, everything worked perfectly so i was ready to jailbreak 3.0
then i did the 3.0 jail break process with redsnow
after following all the steps it finished and said rebooting
then my ipod went black (like off, and no power, not like it is on but is black) and its now unresponsive, its just blank screen as if it was turned off, the home and power buttons arent doing anything and it wont connect with itunes (nothing comes up on the devices list).

-please help

have you tried putting it back in dfu modd and restoring it that way. also i heard a guy on here say that he held the home and power button for like 2 minutes and it came back on. you need to try both of them i guess by i would try the dfu mode first. i did the 3.0 jailbrake and it worked fine. if you get you touch back on dont let this miis hap stop you do it again until you get it atleast if you get it to come back on you know you can do it over again and again.

Your ipod is "dead" due to battery being depleted. This is a common issue for OS 3.0 not really the ipods fault. Recharge the battery and see if it turns back on, if not, press and hold the sleep and home button for 10 seconds while connected to itunes. You should hear a beep and a window will popup saying itunes has detected a device in recovery mode. I'm not sure if this would work on iTunes 8.2 as it worked flawlessly on iTunes 8.0.
