Does anyone know when (or if) they are going to release the firmware for the iPod touch 1g? Or if its already been released, where can I get it?

iPod Touch 1G/2G (and soon to be 3G) can all run 3.0

You must buy it from Apple for $9.95

3.0 is released for all devices including iPod Touch.
I know nothing of an iPod Touch 3G though.

I don't recommend doing this though. You may have issues and I don't know 100% if It'll work. You may just have to pay the $9.99 fee for 3.0.

Go to DinoZambas's channel on youtube and he has links to free 3.0 firmwares and he also tells you how to jailbreak the firmware.

I had no problem with the file. I jailbroke my ipod 1st Gen last night.

SO after i update to 3.0 am i still suppose to use firmeware 2.2.1 to jail break (i have a 1st gen)

You use which ever Firmware that is Installed on your Device.
