1. Unplug your iPod
2.Turn your iPod off
3. Hold Home and plug to PC
4. iTunes should recognize your iPod in DFU (recovery) mode.
Restore using iTunes, then jailbreak again.
How to avoid this?
RESTORE TO FACTORY SETTINGS BEFORE JAILBREAKING.
I'll be adding some FAQ, anyone who wants to help me is welcome.
How to ask a question
If you don't find the solution or answer to your issue on this thread or any other, which I highly doubt, do the following:
First, specify what OS you're on, which program you're using to jailbreak and your iPod Generation. If it's a software related problem, specify where did you download it from. Then ask.
Example:
QuickPWN say's: Incorrect or corrupt IPSW file.
I'm on Win XP SP2 and I own a 2Gen iPod Touch.
That's it. Simply posting "I'm stuck on the second step" will only delay people from helping you, as you'll have to wait for them to reply asking you key info like OS and which program you're using.
Question: What are Cydia and Installer?
Answer: Cydia and Installer are special apps that let you download third party apps (apps not developed by Apple) from preloaded or custom "sources".
Sources are place Cydia and Installer get their apps/tweaks/themes/etc from. Usually, the default sources should be enough for casual customizing and tweakin.
The only difference between Cydia and Installer is that they have different Sources and Apps, as Installer has less apps. IMHO, Cydia is way better.
Question: Jailbroke, now what?
Answer: Here are some benefits and apps I USE from Cydia:
- You can get third party apps, but you CAN'T AND SHOULDN'T download cracked apps.
- You can download Winterboard and customize almost every single thing in your iPod, and all for free.
- You can get special tools and utilities like Copy/Paste, quick app search, flashlight, etc.
- You can download special tweaks and patches to fix problems Apple hasn't addressed yet
- Great app in my opinion, GPSPhone. Play your favorite GBA games on your iPhone/iTouch in fullscreen and with +30fps.[/url]
Question: QuickPWN says "unsupported or corrupt firmware" when trying to jailbreak 2Gen iPod.
Answer: QuickPWN does not support 2Gen iPods yet. Use QuickFreedom instead, follow Blacky's guide on how to jailbreak a 2Gen iPod using QuickFreedom.
Question: Will jailbreaking void my guarantee?
Answer: Yes it will. BUT, you can simply restore it to factory settings using iTunes and there's no way for them to know that it was once jailbroken
Can any moderator make this a sticky? I've seen enough threads of people with this same problem...
Edit: Thanks for Sticky
