Turn it off by pressing and holding both Home and Sleep button until the device turns off. Wait for a few seconds then press and hold the home button for at least 4-5 seconds then reconnect the USB cable.

My 32gb iPod touch 2g is stuck in recovery mode,
And when I plug it into the computer and attempt to restore it using either of the firmware files I have downloaded, it gives me an "error 10" or "error 13".

I'm trying to jailbreak it using the guide on these forums.

Stuck in recovery mode as in what? Whato do you see on screen?

What software are you using to jailbreak?

Did you trying doing a clean restore with iTunes?

I've had to restore my touch 2G 3 times already today... clearly I'm doing something wrong... Using purplera1n to jailbreak, it hangs for a while, 10-15 minutes then gives me waiting for reboot or something like that, last attempt crashed with error submit window after a dozen minutes, all with the usb => itunes logo, basically stuck on recovery screen and can't get out of it unless I use restore.
I'm on XP

any ideas? and if it's not purplera1n that I need to use, what is it?

I've had to restore my iPod Touch 2g 3.0 about 8 times because I get stuck on the apple logo (most annoying thing ever to wait for restore, re-jailbreak, and re-download all my apps & themes)

A peice of advice, WAIT A FEW MINUTES! See what happens, i have reset mine a few times when it probably would have loaded if i would have waited
