NO, the screen should be COMPLETELY BLACK. The screen will turn white for a moment during the pre-jailbreak...
otherwise this is a bretty accurate tutorial. could some mod make it sticky, that will avoid alot of repeated questions.

Well mine have been white during the whole process (before iTunes began to restore it) and everything went fine so it can be white without problems... it's just important that it'll turn black while restoring .

hey, will you be able to boot up your ipod touch 2g on its own. Cause i used a gui version and it doesn't allow me to boot up, i will need to use a computer and use some other application to boot it up.

Hey, i answered you in the FAQ. The one you currently have is the redsn0w beta, it's tethered and means it needs the computer to boot up.

This is really frustrating, I installed LIBUSB in compatibly mode, YET IS STILL DOES THE SAME THING! Boot up, BSOD, disables my USB mouse, then I have to go into safe mode and remove it.

If there is an 16xx error (could be 1604 or so) then you'll have to try on another computer, that's what i wrote in the guide. I don't know why this is happening but i guess you're using windows xp sp3?
