Anyone suggest a way to Jailbreak this? Or is it recommended that I upgrade?

use QuickPWN, it should work

Before you use quickPWN you must update it with the 2.2.1 firmware 1st but apple charges you for it so get the firmware from quickpwn.com to update it connect you ipod go to restore hold shift then press restore and choose to firmware that you downloaded then after that you can use quickpwn
