iPod Touch 2g Jailbreak Works!, Posted 03-19-2009, 08:05 PM #1 (permalink)
Hey guys, I know some of you are'nt sure about this new program, QuickFreedom. As you all know, QuickFreedom is an unteathered jailbreak, which can be used to jailbreak the iPod Touch 2G. I, myself was not sure on whether to jailbreak or not, but then wondered when QuickPWN would be released, which could take days, weeks, months, etc. So I decided that I couldnt wait and decided to Jailbreak. The result was that MY IPOD TOUCH HAD BEEN JAILBROKEN!!!!! I am not forcing you to use QuickFreedom, and if you feel uncomfortable with using QuickFreedom, then you don't have to, and can wait till QuickPWN releases the official Jailbreak. For those of you who want to Jailbreak while using QuickFreedom, and are wondering on how to do it, these are the steps:

1.)When the Jailbreak is completed, your iPod will be restored, and will lose everything, and if you want to keep your apps, music, videos, etc. then I suggest backing up your iPod in iTunes.

2.)When your iPod is backed up, you can download QuickFreedom from the QuickFreedom website, or the QuickPWN website.

3.)When QuickFreedom is installed, open it up, and click the box that says Jailbreak iPod.

4.)Next, you need to install LIBUSB, and can do that by clicking the box that says Install LIBUSB.

5.)When LIBUSB is installed, you need the original 2.2.1 Firmware. If you do not have the original Firmware, then click the box that says download, and save it to the desktop. When it is saved, click the box that says Browse... and search for the original firmware. (It should be on the desktop, or wherever you saved it to) Wait for the firmware to move into QuickFreedom, and dont do anything that will make the program stop responding. Just be patient and wait, this will take a few seconds.

6.)When the original firmware is moved, click the box that says Next. If just want Installer and Cydia, then click the box that says Create Firmware. If you want a custom boot logo, then click the checkbox at the top right of the window, and browse for your picture, and then click the box that says Create Firmware. (This will take 5-10 minutes, so be patient) (I have not used a custom boot logo, and I don't know if it will work or not)

7.)Once the custom firmware is created, click the box that says next. You will need to put your iPod into DFU mode for the next step. (If you do not know how to put your iPod in DFU mode, then click the box that says DFU Instructions)

8.)Once your iPod is in DFU Mode, click the box that says Start Pre-Jailbreak. (Please be patient and wait for your iPod to be in Pre-Jailbreak Mode)

9.)When your iPod is in Pre-Jailbreak Mode, your iPod screen should turn white. (Don't freak out when this happens, because I did when it happened)

10.)Open iTunes while your screen is white, and when your iPod is detected, Hold SHIFT, and while holding shift click RESTORE.

11.)Find the custom firmware that you created, and click it. (This will take a few minutes) After you restore, you should notice 1 or 2 apps on your iPod that were not there originally. If you just wanted Cydia, then you just have 1 app that was not there before. If you also got Installer with Cydia, then you have 2 apps that were not there before.

12.)Sync your iPod with iTunes, so that you can get your music, apps, videos, etc. back into your iPod.

13.)Your iPod should be jailbroken, and you will have everything you did before, and more.

If you need any help regarding the jailbreak, or anything related to this topic, comment, or message me.

Even though I have a jailbroken 3G, I do not know how to tell if a 2G touch is jailbroken. The reason that I am asking is, a neighbor has a 2G touch & said it is jailbroken & did not know about cydia or winterboard, plus i did not see cydia on the screen anywhere.
