Warranty back after hitting "restore", Posted 03-30-2009, 07:25 AM #1 (permalink)
Hey guys i am new to quickpwn..
I had a little question..
About a week ago i bought my Ipod Touch 2g 8GB..
Beautifull thing but..
after spending $210 on a ipod i tought the apps were free..
Well they aren't (ffs apple)

I want to jailbreak my ipod but it will remove the warranty ()
after reading a lot of forums i found something usefull:

People jailbreak their ipod with quickpwn and if they have a problem they just hit the restore button in itunes.. and send it to apple
I also heard that apple recieves the ipod (jailbroken) fix it and send it back with a warning that if it happends again they kick you out of Itunes..

My question is:
Is this true? I live in holland maybe the people are dumber here :P so they can't see it was jailbroken..
But if it's that simple i will jailbreak my ipod..

GreetZ,

If you restore your ipod they will never know it was jailbroken. From what I understand, restore basically formats anything you did and puts it back to it's original factory settings.

I suppose if you were to send them a broken or "bricked" ipod that might just void your warranty.

Jailbreaking itself won't break your ipod, you can always restore back to how it originally was.

a few months ago my touch was having issues with the headphone jack (no sound in left speakers).

I had jailbroken it, so before bringing it into Apple, I restored it and they didn't notice the difference. My iPod was replaced and I walked out with a brand new one. And immediately jailbroke it!

TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE! My iPod Touch got really messed up, and the thing is I jailbroke it. So i restored it, and they never knew and gave me a new iPod Touch.

LOL! I jailbreak lots of peoples iPods at school and people are always worried "What if something happens, my warranty will be voided" Now I have proof that it will not be voided! *Copies url and pastes into email*
