Out of the loop, can someone help?, Posted 07-07-2009, 09:27 AM #1 (permalink)
Hey guys, I've been out of the loop for a while. Im looking to jailbreak my Iphone 3g 3.0 but not sure what is going on with quickpwn. I keep reading threads that quickpwn for 3.0 is comming but most of them are from june 20th ish. Then there is this redsn0w that I am reluctant to use because of all the complaints of lock ups, crashes, and software not working.

So if anyone could plz tell me, will there be a quickpwn for 3g 3.0?

Hey tetsuo99 I can't say about the quickpwn, but I did use redsnow sucessfully on my 3G running 3.0. It did lock up on my once, when I installed some kind of SMS app that I found on Cydia, but trust me, you can find everything you need to fix your phone on here!

Ok when you used redsn0w did it wipe all music/apps/videos off your phone? I took a tedious amount of time getting exactly what I wanted on my phone as far as music and movies are concerned. I use the Itunes manually manage my music. When I did the jail break with quickpwn on 2.1.1 the next time I hooked up to Itunes it forced me to sync my phone and thus erased everything off it. Some of the complaints with redsn0w is that it hangs up during the jailbreak and you have to do a 'restore' which wipes all data, contacts, saved WEP keys. Very annoying.

Keep in mind that people have all types of different issues on here, and some people have no issues whatsoever. In my case, I can't answer your question because I moved everything off of my phone first, "just in case".

sorry.

ALWAYS backup your phone using itunes before jailbreaking or restoring, this wil save you the headache of inputting those contact numbers or trying to retrieve wifi settings. This should also sync with your videos, music and photos so when you have successfully jailbroken your device, you can then restore the phone to have all data back and sync to have all videos, music and photos back.
There is no Quickpwn for OS 3.0, only redsn0w, for now anyway. However they use the same concept to jailbreaking. As a hint, install either icy or cydia, but not both. Users are experiencing problems when both are installed. Good luck.

My problem is that if I hit sync in Itunes(the folder that is set as the sync folder is empty) so it just erases all the music/movies ect. off the phone.
