finally I decided to update my iPhone 3G to OS 3.0 using iTunes 8.2 on Windows platform.. When I try to jailbreake using redsn0w 0.72, I do not find "iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw" in my computer when it is required by redsn0w. Apparently the active Restore file is: "iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore" because this file is what is used during restoring the firmware by iTunes 8.2 (using shift key + restore). I forced some "iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw" files downloded from different sites but they were not recognized neither by iTunes nor by redsn0w.
Some idea about the solution?
The current status is: I have a "wonderful " 3.0 firmware but I lost the possibility to jailbreak my iPhone what is what I love.
any suggestion it will be received with enthusiasm

I had the same problem with mine, no matter what I tried I couldn't find the firmware file. that was untill I came on here

What I did was, I went into the control panel of my pc (XP) and into folder options and changed the setting so it would show all hidden files. I then went into the search function on my pc and put in ispw and made sure it was set to search all files, hidden as well and it found it. I then moved it to a folder on my desk top.

OK, I fixed the problem. That was when I downloaded the right firmware 3.0 (ispw) file from quicpwn site. I restored the iPhone with it and now it is jailbreaked thanks to dev team again and again.
