For any users.

Try holding the home button way into the jailbreak, worked for me.

Also do a restart.

i would also recommend if you're running vista to right click on redsnow and use "run as administrator" that way there are no quirks about access to the device. just to be safe.

redsn0w 0.72 crashes on ramdisk preparation, Posted 07-09-2009, 05:12 AM #9 (permalink)
For me, redsn0w 0.72 crashes after successfully loading the .ipsw file and saying "preparing ramdisk". The debugger message is "Unhandled exception at 0x77c16fa3 in redsn0w.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x04096000.". Does anybody have the same problem or any solution for that? Rebooting my PC does not help. As there is no communication yet between the iPhone and PC when the crash occurs, I guess the iPhone DFU mode is not (yet) required?

Cheers
Dennis

I've got a similar issue. At the same point in time, even running as administrator, Vista comes up with the "redsn0w.exe has stopped working. Press OK to close the application" with no opportunity to tell vista to f*ck off. I've done the reboot thing, I've gone to great lengths learning how to turn off that messaging system, and also which system services pertain to vista's "diagnostic" features to turn those off, as well has some magic variables in the registry. None of this helps. The app just keels silently, but it still keels. My next thought is to bring up XP under VMWare and try that. Anybody else have thoughts on all this?
