A2DP Sucks without AVRCP!, Posted 06-18-2009, 11:06 AM #1 (permalink)
Whats up with some people liking the new a2dprofile!? Its incomplete. FF and REW are not working and its been like this sins the beta's. Why didn't the "official" beta testers report this problem?

I was hoping they fixed it in their final release but noooo, I still have to touch my iph0ne to skip to the next song!

Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP)
This profile defines how high quality audio (stereo or mono) can be streamed from one device to another over a Bluetooth connection.[1] For example, music streamed from a mobile phone to a wireless headset or car audio.

A2DP was initially used in conjunction with an intermediate Bluetooth transceiver that connects to a standard audio output jack, encodes the incoming audio to a Bluetooth-friendly format, and sends the signal wirelessly to Bluetooth headphones that decode and play the audio. Bluetooth headphones, especially the more advanced models, often come with a microphone and support for the Headset (HSP), Hands-Free (HFP) and Audio/Video Remote Control (AVRCP) profiles.

A2DP is designed to transfer a uni-directional 2-channel stereo audio stream, like music from an MP3 player, to a headset or car radio.[2] This profile relies on AVDTP and GAVDP. It includes mandatory support for the low complexity SBC codec (not to be confused with Bluetooth's voice-signal codecs such as CVSDM), and supports optionally: MPEG-1 , MPEG-2, MPEG-4, AAC, and ATRAC, and is extensible to support manufacturer-defined codecs. Most bluetooth stacks implement the SCMS-T digital rights management (DRM) scheme. In these cases it is possible to connect the A2DP headphones for high quality audio.

I can't even get the ipod to work on my bluetooth headset... is it supposed to work for BT headsets? Or just BT headphones? It's connected, works fine for calls but not for iPod

A BT Headset is for calling only, thats why it wont work with your ipod. To listen music via bluetooth you need a BT (Stereo) Headphone.

Wrong!!!, Posted 06-20-2009, 09:23 PM #6 (permalink)
A2DP does not support FFWD and RWND. This profile is fine and does not need a fix. I have a Pioneer 6100BT. It has built in bluetooth with support for audio streaming. (in the book it says A2DP does not support rewind or fast forward) only play, pause and stop.

Okay you're right, its missing the AVRCProfile. Why the hell do they add A2DP without AVRCP!?
