I haven't tried the upgrade myself and a lot of people report not being able to downgrade. Either they haven't been doing it properly or it's not downgradeable. I suggest waiting for the iPhone Dev Team to release the new jailbreak and stick with the new firmware for now.

It is not possible to downgrade your firmware on the iPhone. You are stuck with it. That is why they always tell people do not upgrade until the Dev Team releases an updated version.

You are stuck with 2.2.1.

Already I have Jailbreak like cydia etc... and my iPhone version 2.2 So, which recommed should wait and no should download new firmware 2.2.1 then will not work with Jailbreak 2.2? Before doing download or drop it wait till new update for Jailbreak 2.2.1? Please let me know... Thanks

As far as i understand, u have to update your firmware with quickpwn! And not with itunes.
If u do it with quickpwn the baseband wil stay the same

Hello ,
I accidently upgraded my 2.2.0 , 2g unlocked iphone to 2.2.1 . And it went back to locked mode where I see on the screen, its says plug it to itunes. But I dont know how it happened, I couldnt get also any reception . 2 hours ago (I am att user) My phone found the service and I am able to get phone calls and answer them. But I cant call anyone it only makes me do emergency calls.
What should I do at this point to unlock it?

i bought the iphone 3g so that i could use it on a different network. Its firmware 2.2.1, so is it likely that quickpwn or dev team (whoever does the stuff) will bring out something that will unlock the 2.2.1? In the video on the dev team site it seems that its very unlikely?

im new to the iphone seen, so any help would be appreciated

The Dev-Team Blog works on the unlock/jailbreak. As of right now they cannot unlock for iPhone 3G firmware 2.2.1 but they can jailbreak the iPhone 3G firmware 2.2.1 and they are working on the jailbreak software for it. (No estimated time as to when it will be released)
