As I posted here, it is highly recommended to NOT upgrade to the latest firmware yet. A jailbreak for the latest firmware has not been released.

2.2.1 Wont come up without a SIM installed. Activation has changed. It's more than just Safari

Oh no, Posted 01-27-2009, 04:44 PM #15 (permalink)
I have yet to jailbreak (Cause haven't figured it out, I've done everything I've seen but get stuck at the apple logo) anyways, I keep trying every other day and what do I see an update (haven't updated yet still on 2.2 iPhone 3G) but I tried to JB again like i said I've been having problems so I have to always restore from trying to JB and I realized that if try JBing again and it doesn't work I'll have to update when I restore my phone to try again. I guess waiting in my only option until 2.2.1 is JBable?

Good thing about 2.2.1, Posted 01-27-2009, 05:18 PM #16 (permalink)
I had problems with QuickPWN (frozen apple and no signal). In the meantime, Apple has blessed me with 2.2.1. It's cured my frozen apple and no signal problems. It canceled out QuickPWN, but that's OK. I'll try again later if at all possible.

If you're ready to give up on QuickPWN for a while, hook up your iPhone to iTunes, follow the prompts to update to firmware 2.2.1, and "the phone will fix itself."

By the way, I'm not putting down QuickPWN. It worked flawlessly on my original iPhone. The UI is very easy to follow.

For now I'm waiting for the "All Clear"

Thanks
I got a replacement Iphone from the Apple store today; sod's law it would be on the very day of the update. I am willing to try Quickpwn on my 2.2.1, but Quickpwn will not let me past the firmware selection screen, even when selecting the 2.2.1 firmware - therefor no way to test if it works.
