I done, Posted 01-29-2009, 12:45 PM #91 (permalink)
So,

I happily done all.

I downgraded my firmware as written in my small tutorial.

That the baseband isn't downgraded I solved that I bought right now here an "TurboSIM for iPhone 3G 2.2". I was giving it a try and it works also with the baseband version from 2.2.1 :-))))

So, my phone is jailbreaked and unlocked. Thanks god :-)

I think the jailbreak for the classic iphones in 2.2.1 are out, but not for the 3g iphones.
How many times have you actually kissed your iphone?

I had the same. I succeeded to downgrade back to 2.2, but the baseband keeps upgraded. And as QuickPWN here said, and all other forums and posts I found, its impossible to downgrade the baseband. Somewhere I even read its only possible with hardware modifications. I don't believe that, but it could be. I tried ZiPhone but it won't help you.

The fact seems to be, that you won't be able to unlock your iPhone with baseband 02.30.00 what comes with the firmware update 2.2.1. Even if you downgrade your firmware to 2.2, the newer baseband keeps.

I got my phone unlocked, because I bought a TurboSIM. I found one guy in my country/city who had 1 TurboSIM directly in stock. Its "TurboSIM for iPhone 3G Firmware 2.2" - I thought ok, this 25$ I can invest to try if it works. And, it worked!

TurboSIM for iPhone 3G FW 2.2 - can unlock a iPhone which got downgraded from 2.2.1 firmware with baseband 02.30.00.

Cheers.

af2k, could you send us a picture of your turbo sim (or the packaging) so we can see what turbo sim you have. There are so many and i cant tell which one to buy.

that is amazing, so even with the new baseband turbo sim can work

Thankyou

Firmware 2.2.1, need help, urgent!!!

Or just wait for the iPhone Dev Team to release the new jailbreak software.
Not only is QuickPWN the BEST but the information provided in the forums by "jokerpwn" is an iPhone lifesaver!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!! Took a little time (especially reloading my iPhone) but worked like a charm. I couldn't be happier. I am using a 2G iPhone that has now been degraded to firmware 2.2.

Yeah, I was really being afraid I got screwed and have now just an more-expensive iPod Touch

I want to upgrade to firmware 2.2.1 as its jailbreaked now, but I am a bit afraid if TurboSIM will still work or not. Or is it totally FW independent and relays only on baseband?

Cheers.

by the looks of it, the turbo sim is firmware dependednt and not baseband dependent. I personally wouldnt upgrade yet since you finally got yours unlocked and jailbroken on 2.2 from 2.2.1, it just isnt worth the hastle/risk. Wait a while and see if it is safe, since the new firmware just came out.

Thanks those pictures of turbo sim would be awsome, i cant wait to see if my iphone 3g can be unlocked too.

Hi again folks,

so, I am very lucky and happy. After I saw the *Inofficial* release of quickpwn for FW 2.2.1, I thought give it a try.

I have:
  • iPhone 3G (Model MB489B)
  • FW 2.2.1 (5H11)
  • Baseband 02.30.03

My phone is locked by a carrier so I need to use yellowsn0w or TurboSIM to unlock.
I upgraded right now (back) to 2.2.1 and voila, working. Jailbreaked and unlocked (with TurboSIM for iPhone 3G FW 2.2).

What I did is:
  1. Upgrade with iTunes to newest FW (2.2.1 5H11)
  2. Use QuickPWN to jailbreak

After the iTunes upgrade the phone displays "Locked, slide for emergency", even that the phone is registered at my carrier(!). I got shocked already, but ok, I was going forward and flashed with QuickPWN and voila, unlocked and working like a charm :-)

Cheers and thanks to all developers and hackers.
I hope that my (earlier) posts was helping some people as well.
