I'm trying to use the 3GS as a modem over bluetooth or wire, Is this Possible???

As using a Computer to dial a number and send a file using z-modem protocol, not sharing the iphones internet connection....

Example: Using Hyper Terminal and dial 215-555-1212 and sending a 10KB txt file to a computer that had no internet connection only a Phone Line.

Please Help. my Old Motorola V551 Died and I need The Dial-up Networking feature of the phone.

Enable tetherin on the iphone, Posted 07-06-2009, 12:29 AM #2 (permalink)
visit: help.benm.at from your iphone, follow the instructions to enable the tethering on the phone. You do not need to jailbreak to enable tethering (Use iphone as modem), and you can chose to use it as usb or bluetooth.

Does this only enable the iphone to share its internet connection with the computer???

I actually need to be able to dial a number with a computer using the iphone and send DATA. without connecting to the internet at all...

Kind of like BBS, you call a computer and send/get files then hang up. No internet connection. The computer you DIAL is the only computer you have access to.

Maybe this is a little to Obsolete because no one understands what I actually refer to. not even Tech Support...

there is no easy way to do this. Pretty much your going to need a dedicated internet( DSL/Cable/FiOS) connection on the receiving end to connect to it from a cell phone. every thing on the cell is digital and dialing out is impossible because everything is buffered on a cell network thus making dialing up impossible.
