2g Ipod touch Jaailbreak or what is this??

I found instructions supposedly from the dev team over how to manually (VERY manually) jailbreak the ipod touch 2g on a mac computer.

real or no?

yes, that method using redsn0w is the ONLY real way to jailbreak an ipt2g
if you search around, you can also find directions to do it on windows

one more question.

It said that i needed to have libusb on my computer so i downloaded it and it crashed my laptop (dell inspiron w/ vista home if that helps) for example, the usb ports stopped functioning and it would crash unless i started it in safe mode. and i had to do a full system restore to fix it.

can anyone tell me what i did wrong there?

Ok well there is a video on YouTube about how to jailbreak the itouch 2g. Is that real or fake. It looks preatty real but where would he get the codes for that? Also, should I have gone ahead and downloaded the 2.2.1 for my itouch 2g?
