LOL. Use iTunes and goto the "Info" tab and enable Sync Contacts.
Lets say you delete all your contacts then you sync your iDevice via iTunes you will get all the contacts you had before you removed them.

There are always inconveniences when jailbreaking....having to reload and even loosing some apps is all a part of the process... but you can get back to almost being whole again. One thing to be aware of is not all apps that worked on your current iphone firmware will necessarily work with the new version of firmware you put on your iphone. So -even if you save every app source....some of them probably won't work or work the way they did. Not every app was upgraded to be compatible with the newest version.

To backup Cydia app sources you can use APTBackup. It will backup Cydia sources - it doesn't back up the actual apps. Make a list of the apps that will need to be reloaded. The sources will be put back when you restore from back up - but not the actual apps - you will need to reload them but it only takes a few minutes if you know which ones you want.

The file that APTBackup creates is backed up with the files in iTunes when you backup there -
1st backup your Cydia apps, then go to iTunes and do a backup.
After jailbreak, go back to iTunes and restore from backup in Itunes. Then go back to Cydia, reload APTBackup and run it's Restore. Your Sources should then be available to reload the apps you want.
