    Introduction.

You finally got out of Apple’s little box and jailbroke your iPhone! (Im just going to use the term iPhone now. iPod users, bear with me.) This guide will get you into the cydia world and beyond. So let’s get started…

    1. Getting Started
    a. running cydia
Once you finish jailbreaking your iPhone with whatever software that’s available, go ahead and open the new Cydia icon on your springboard.
I will say reloading data, then close. So now reopen it again, make sure you’re connected to Edge, 3G, or Wifi!
Cydia will load up and then ask you to select:
    User | Hacker | Developer
Choose “user” and let Cydia load.
Cydia will ask you to do an update, select “complete update”.
After that’s done, Cydia will respring your iPod.

    b. all sources
So, you got Cydia up and running and you’re feeling pretty confident! Now we can add all sources, so more packages will be available for you to download.
Go ahead and open up Cydia.
On the bottom, click “Sections”, then find the “Repositories” folder.
In the folder, click on a package called “steffwiz”.
Install that and hit “Return to Cydia”
After you install steffwiz, stay in the repositories folder and scroll to the top.
There should now be a package called “All Sources”. Install that and let it all load.

    c. general things to know
If you ever need to remove any package, go to “Manage”, then “Packages”.
To add another source, go to “Manage”, then “Sources”.
The Cydia homepage has a lot of info and feature the Cydia Store, where you can buy packages.
Cydia was developed and is managed by Jay Freeman a.k.a. saurik.
    2. Themes
Themes make your iPhone different from others.
    a. winterboard
In order to even use a theme, you’ll need a package called “Winterboard”, developed by Jay Freeman.
Go to Cydia and search “Winterboard”, go down to the “W” section, find the package, then install it. The description should be “more powerful, open-source SummerBoard”.
Now you can start downloading themes, but please keep reading for more info.

    b. types of themes
There are many types of themes in Cydia. Some just change the battery picture, while others are a complete package with everything.

    c. recommended themes
Here are some themes I recommend:
    • Deep (iSpazio Source)
    • Smoog
    • Buuf2
    • iWood Realize
    • Picnic
    • iGlassSol

    3. Utilities/Addons
There are a lot of these, so I’ll just list the best ones:
    1. Five Icon Dock – Fit 5 Icons on your dock.
    2. SBSettings – Awesome toggle manager! *MUST HAVE*
    3. Battery Percentage – Adds battery percentage next to the battery on the top.
    4. Flashlight – Unlike the appstore flashlight, it brings the brightness all the way up and is very useful.
    5. MobileMusicPlayer Flip – (For iPod Touch users), turns your “Music” and “Videos” icons into one icon called “iPod”.
    6. Pushmod – Fetch new data in 1, 3, 5, or 10 min.
    7. MxTube – Download Youtube videos for free.
    8. StatusNotifier (The French one) – Very useful, find out yourself.

Nice guide... The only thing I'd say you're missing is a link or instructions on where to find and how to download/install Cydia.
