iTunes 10.2.2 Download Released; SAFE for Jailbreak

Today Apple released the iTunes 10.2.2 software download for Windows and Mac which fixes a lot of bugs including:

Addresses an issue where iTunes becomes unresponsive when an iPad is syncing.
Fixes issue which causes delay in syncing photos with iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Fixes iTunes store video previews problem which caused certain videos to be skipped while playing.
Has better stability and performance

If you are a jailbreaker, it is safe to update to iTunes 10.2.2. If you want to jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 untethered then you must wait for i0n1c to update his exploit to work with iOS 4.3.2.

iTunes 10.1.1 Update Released – Fixes Bugs; Safe for Jailbreakers

Today Apple released the iTunes 10.1.1 software update. If you are a jailbreaker, it’s safe to download this update! The iTunes 10.1.1 update fixes the bugs listed below:

• Addresses an issue where some music videos may not play on Macs equipped with NVIDIA GeForce 9400 or 9600 graphics.
• Resolves an issue where iTunes may unexpectedly quit when deleting a playlist that has the iTunes Sidebar showing.
• Fixes a problem where iTunes may unexpectedly quit when connecting an iPod to a Mac equipped with a PowerPC processor.
• Addresses an issue where some music videos may not sync to an iPod, iPhone, or iPad.

iTunes 10.1 came with several new features and improvements, including:

• Use AirPlay to instantly and wirelessly stream videos from iTunes to the all-new Apple TV.

Comcast Internet Down Right Now? Here’s a fix!

I just got a call from a friend claiming that his Comcast Internet service was down. Luckily I use Verizon FIOS, so I wasn’t affected by this. I did a quick search on Twitter and saw that many users were experiencing this problem as well. Apparently this problem is mainly affecting Comcast users in the east coast. The Comcast DNS servers are down, and that’s why Comcast users are unable to access any websites.

Thankfully there are alternative FREE DNS servers that can be used to access the Internet. If you are a Comcast user, you can use either Google DNS or OpenDNS. Just change your DNS server IP address to 8.8.8.8 to use Google DNS or change it to 208.67.220.220 to use OpenDNS. Your Internet should start working again.

For a step-by-step guide on how to change your DNS, read on below:

1. Open your Control Panel.

2. Click on the Network and Sharing Center icon.

3. Find the name of the network you’re connected to, and then click on View status.

4. In the Networking tab click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and then click Properties on the bottom-right corner.

5. Select “Use the following DNS server addresses:” and enter in the following:

Preferred DNS server: 8.8.8.8
Alternate DNS server: 8.8.4.4

6. Click OK. Open your web browser, and your Internet should start working now.

UPDATE: It appears that Comcast DNS servers are back up now. You can stay with the Google DNS servers or you can switch back to Comcast’s DNS servers by following steps 1-4, and in step 5 switching back to Obtain DNS server address automatically.

Apple Launching Something BIG on iTunes Tomorrow

Apple has updated their Apple.com homepage with the text “Tomorrow is just another day. That you’ll never forget. Check back here tomorrow for an exciting announcement from iTunes.”

At 7:00 AM PST or 10:00 AM EST Apple will be announcing something new through their iTunes software.

iOS 4.2 for iPhone, iPod, and iPod touch is expected to be released tomorrow.

I’m sure the announcement is something bigger than iOS 4.2 because Apple wouldn’t hype tomorrow’s announcement unless they were announcing something BIG. New Planet Discovered 2010, Earth like Planet Gliese 581G

The New Planet discovered by astronomers, aka Gliese 581G is an Earth-like planet according to astronomers. It could have extraterrestrial power. “This is our first Goldilocks planet – just the right size and the right distance from its sun,” said astronomer Paul Butler.

The new planet, Gliese 581G, is 20 light years from Earth’s solar system. Forget about us reaching that planet because 20 light years is way too far. Gliese 581G is always sunny on one side. There is no night on planet Gliese 581G because it’s day all year long!

Astronomers don’t know whether or not any intelligent form of life exists on Gliese 581G, but this planet can support extraterrestrial life. “If we do discover life outside our planet, it would perhaps be the most significant discovery of all time,” said Edward Seidel of the National Science Foundation. Windows Live Essentials 2011 Download Officially Released

Today Microsoft officially announced that Windows Live Essentials 2011 is available for download. Windows Live Essentials is a bundle of apps created to supplement Windows.

Chris Jones, the Vice President of Windows Live Engineering for Microsoft announced the final Windows Live Essentials 2011 release in a blog post.

Jones wrote, “Together with Windows 7 and the new Internet Explorer 9 beta, Windows Live Essentials completes your Windows experience and connects your PC to the services you use every day”.

Dell will be the first PC manufacturer to ship PCs with Windows Live Essentials 2011 and Windows 7 pre-installed.

The Windows Live Essentials 2011 software is only available for Windows 7 and Windows Vista. “If your computer is still running Windows XP, you can, of course, continue to use the current Windows Live Essentials software, and then switch to Windows Live Essentials 2011 when you buy a new PC or upgrade to Windows 7″, wrote Jones. ‘The Flintstones’ Turn 50: Google Doodle Celebrates Anniversary

I was amazed to see The Flintstones on the logo on Google.com today. It is the 50th Anniversary of The Flintstones, and to celebrate Google has created a Google Doodle of The Flintstones. A Google Doodle, for those who don’t know what it is, is whenever Google changes the logo on their homepage to celebrate a special event. Clicking the Google logo reveals search results for “The Flintstones”.

As a kid, I used to watch The Flintstones and really enjoyed that cartoon. It’s good to see Google celebrate the 50th birthday of The Flintstones and re-design their logo. You can see a Wikipedia entry of The Flintstones here, if you’ve never heard of this cartoon.

Some interesting facts about The Flintstones include that it was originally known as The Flagstones, and then it was known as The Gladstones, and then finally it got it’s name The Flintstones. Facebook Down: DNS Failure – Service Unavailable, Facebook Problems

Right now, a lot of Facebook Down tweets are showing up on the web. that’s because popular social networking website, Facebook, is down.People are getting DNS Failure, Service Unavailable, and other Facebook problems.

Relax people, take a break from Facebook. It’s just another social networking website. While Facebook is down you can actually do something productive like updating your software, researching something interesting on Google, or taking a break from your computer to take care of other important things.

If you check Downright now on your computer, Facebook is still down as of this post (update: it appears that Downrightnow is down too now :D). If you want to be notified as soon as Facebook is back up, follow @QuickPWN on Twitter and you’ll get an instant update.

iOS 4.2 Download (Beta 1) for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch Released to Developers

The iOS 4.2 download (Beta 1) was released to developers today. Steve Jobs announced iOS 4.2 during the new iPod launch event last week, and he also said that the final version of iOS 4.2 software will be out in December.

New features of iOS 4.2 include Game Center (Apple’s social gaming network that allows users to invite friends to play a game, start a multiplayer game through auto-matching, track their achievements, and compare their best scores on a leaderboard), Multi-tasking (allows your iPad apps to take advantage of multitasking services, including playing audio, push notifications, receiving location change events, and more), and AirPrint (enables instant wireless printing from iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch with no set up required).

If you are a developer you can grab the iOS 4.2 download (beta 1) from the iOS Dev Center or the links below. If you’re not a developer you’ll just need to wait until November for the final version of iOS 4.2 to be released.

Google Doodle logo for Today, September 8 (9/8/10)

If you go to the main page of Google.com today, you’ll see that the Google Doodle logo for today, September 8 (9/8/10) is a colorless Google logo. As you start typing in the search box you will notice a cursor blinking and each letter in the Google logo will start coloring itself.

Google doesn’t just change it’s logo for no reason at all. There is always a meaning behind the logo. I’m not sure what the reason is behind this logo, as Google can be mysterious at times. A tweet from the official Google Twitter account says: “Our doodle is dressing up in its brightest colors for something exciting coming very soon…”. Can you guess what that is?
