Jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 Untethered — iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad, iPod touch 4G, and iPod touch 3G

You can now jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 untethered as the iPhone Dev Team has now released the Untethered iOS 4.3.2 jailbreak. Credits for the redsn0w software go to iPhone Dev Team and the exploit goes to i0n1c. Just follow the steps below to jailbreak. If you want to unlock your iPhone to use it on another carrier, you should not jailbreak or update to iOS 4.3.2 yet as PwnageTool software for it has not been updated for it yet.

Apple also released the iTunes 10.2.2 download, but you can still jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 untethered so it’s safe to update to iTunes 10.2.2.

This jailbreak is compatible with the following devices:

Jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 Untethered iPhone 4 (GSM) — [UPDATE: WORKS on iPhone 4 Now!]
Jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 Untethered iPhone 3GS
Jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 Untethered iPod touch 4G
Jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 Untethered iPod touch 3G
Jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 Untethered iPad 1 – You can’t Jailbreak iPad 2 iOS 4.3.2 Untethered because that uses a different exploit which hasn’t been released yet!

Steps to Jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 Untethered:

1. Download redsn0w 0.9.6 rc14 for Windows or Mac computer. Make sure you update to iOS 4.3.2 if you haven’t already!

2. Download iOS 4.3.2 IPSW software for your device.

3. Open redsn0w (you may have to open it in XP Compatibility mode — to do that, right-click redsn0w -> Properties -> Compatibility Tab and select Windows XP and click OK), and follow the on screen instructions. Once it’s done you will be jailbroken on iOS 4.3.2 untethered!

Having problems updating to iOS 4.3.2? If you can’t update to iOS 4.3.2 it may be because you have gs.apple.com in your HOSTS file, so remove gs.apple.com and you should be able to update your device to iOS 4.3.2. Here are the steps on how to do this:

1. Right-click and Run Notepad as administrator

2. File -> Open, and Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers and open the HOSTS file

3. Erase the line that says gs.apple.com

4. Go to File -> Save As- > and for file name make sure it’s HOSTS and for file type make sure you select All files and then click Save.

iOS 4.3.2 Untethered Jailbreak Possible – iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad, iPod touch 4G, and iPod touch 3G

Apple released iOS 4.3.2 download just yesterday, and you can currently jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 TETHERED only (which means you need to rejailbreak each time you reboot, so it’s not worth it). Thankfully, Stefan Esser aka i0n1c, the guy who developed the iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak has confirmed that an untethered jailbreak is possible on iOS 4.3.2. Apple has not patched i0n1c’s untethered exploit that he used in iOS 4.3.1.

If you want to jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 untethered, you will need to wait a while. i0n1c says that he will begin working on the untethered exploit on Sunday and it will take some time for it to be created. With an untethered jailbreak iOS users only need to jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 once without the need of having to reboot it every time.

For you geeks out there, i0n1c couldn’t use the untethered binaries from iOS 4.3.1 because he has to create new untethered binaries with new dyld/kernel offsets. The reason i0n1c could not create the untethered binaries to jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 right now is because he is travelling and will be in planes. The iPhone Dev Team cannot create the untethered binaries because i0n1c has kept the source code to himself only.

Apple released the iOS 4.3.2 download for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad, iPod touch 4G, and iPod touch 3G hardware today along with iOS 4.2.7 download for Verizon iPhone 4 (CDMA) users. The update Apple issued for iOS 4.3.2 fixes bugs, FaceTime issues, and security issues. If you want to jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 I highly recommend you to stay on iOS 4.3.1 for now as it’s unclear whether or not iOS 4.3.2 patches the untethered vulnerability present in iOS 4.3.1.

You can currently jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 on Mac only (EDIT: SEE UPDATE BELOW) on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4G, iPod touch 3G, and iPad using the redsn0w jailbreak, but that only gives you a tethered jailbreak. So if you jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 with PwnageTool, you will need to keep using PwnageTool to jailbreak your iOS 4.3.2 device each time you reboot it. It’s a long tedious process, but if you love to hack and want to do it just for fun head on over to BlogsDNA and read Sandip’s post. Credit for the PwnageTool 4.3.2 jailbreak goes to DJayB6 for the bundles and iPhone Dev Team for the actual jailbreak software.

UPDATE: You can also jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 using redsn0w 0.9.6rc12, by pointing it to iOS 4.3.1 firmware but it will still be TETHERED so you have to jailbreak it everytime you reboot your iPhone/iPad/iPod touch.

If you want to untethered jailbreak iOS 4.3.2, then refrain from updating to iOS 4.3.2 right now and wait until an official iOS 4.3.2 jailbreak is released. I will post here once you can jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 untethered.

Jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 Untethered with redsn0w

The news a lot of you here have been waiting for has finally come true! The iPhone Dev Team has released redsn0w0.9.6rc9 software which uses the Untethered jailbreak which Stefan Essar aka i0n1c created, so you can now jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 untethered on the following devices:

iPhone 4 4.3.1 – GSM Only, so CDMA Verizon iPhone 4′s are not supported!
iPhone 3GS 4.3.1
iPod touch 4G 4.3.1
iPod touch 3G 4.3.1
iPad 1G 4.3.1 – iPad 2 is not supported!

WARNING: If you use ultrasn0w or if you want to unlock your iPhone, don’t update to iOS 4.3.1 yet as ultrasn0w is currently incompatible with iOS 4.3.1.

Jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch, and iPad

Now that iOS 4.3.1 download is out, many iOS users will want to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1. Unfortunately no jailbreak has been released for iOS 4.3.1 so users who want to jailbreak should stay at the jailbreak firmware they are at right now if they want to keep their jailbreak. If you want to unlock your device or jailbreak your iPad 2 then stay away from iOS 4.3.1 for now! The only person that announced an ETA for their jailbreak is iPhone hacker i0n1c, and he initially said that his untethered jailbreak may be released sometime this week. In the jailbreak world it is hard for any hacker to give any ETA on when a jailbreak comes out so we will just need to wait and see whenever a jailbreak is released.

If you only use “official” jailbreaks then you’ll need to wait for either Chronic Dev Team to update their greenpois0n jailbreak software to support iOS 4.3.1, or iPhone Dev Team to update their redsn0w or PwnageTool jailbreak software to support iOS 4.3.1.

Jailbreak Verizon iPhone 4 iOS 4.2.6 with greenpois0n Windows/Mac

Jailbreak iOS 4.2.6 Verizon iPhone 4 Untethered with Greenpois0n Windows/Mac RC Beta 4 Tutorial

1. Download greenpois0n for Click here to download for Windows/Click here to download for Mac, then watch this video or follow the instructions below.

2. Make sure you are using the latest version of iTunes (currently that is version 10.1.2) otherwise you won’t be able to do a 4.2.6 untethered jailbreak. To do that go to iTunes – > Check for Updates.

3. Connect your Verizon iPhone iOS 4.2.6to your computer using the white USB cable.

4. If iTunes opens, make sure you close it!

5. Open the greenpois0n Windows RC 5 Beta 4 application to begin the jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 untethered process.

6. Follow the instructions within greenpois0ns RC 5 Beta 4 so you can get an untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak:

Press and hold the sleep button (2 seconds)
Continue holding sleep; press and hold home button (10 seconds)
Release sleep button; continue holding home button (15 seconds)

7. After following step 6, your device will be in DFU mode and greenpois0n will start jailbreaking iOS 4.2.6 on Verizon iPhone 4.

8. Once your Verizon iPhone 4 is successfully jailbroken untethered on your iOS 4.2.6 software, then your Verizon iPhone will reboot and you will see a green icon named “Loader” on your device.

9. Tap on the green “Loader” application to open it, and then tap on Cydia and tap on “Install” to install Cydia. Now Cydia should be on your iOS 4.2.6 jailbroken untethered device, and you should be able to install jailbroken apps on it.

Troubleshooting

Cydia does not show up on my iOS 4.2.6untethered jailbreak device after using Loader? – Try rebooting your device and seeing if it shows up. I had to restart my iPhone 4 and it showed up after rebooting.
greenpois0n is stuck on greenpois0n initialized and has the following error message:
- unable to find gBdevList
- unable to find fs_mount
- unable to find fs_unmount
- unable to find fs_load_file

Loader is not installing Cydia – Due to many other users like you, the server which hosts the Cydia download is overloaded. I recommend trying downloading some other time, or you can just use redsn0w 0.9.6 rc8 and install Cydia through that. It’s very easy to use redsn0w and install it and that’s what other people seem to be doing too right now.

Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 Guide for iPhone 4.2.1, iPod touch 4.2.1, and iPad 4.2.1

If you’d like to jailbreak iPhone 4.2.1, iPod touch 4.2.1, or iPad 4.2.1, you can do so by following the guide below. Currently the only tool that supports iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak right now is redsn0w (by iPhone Dev Team).

The other jailbreak tools: greenpois0n (by Chronic Dev Team), and limera1n (by Geohot) haven’t been updated to support the jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 yet.

IMPORTANT: We recommend that only iPhone 3G, and older iPod touch users jailbreak. This jailbreak is only untethered for the older iOS hardware. All of the newer devices are tethered, meaning you will need to re-jailbreak each time you reboot your iDevice. If that is fine with you, then go on and jailbreak.

Download iUserbar new – click here (works on Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari)
In iUserbar new, click the “Downloads” button and then click on your iOS 4.2.1 firmware to download it.
In iUserbar new, click “Downloads” and click on Download redsn0w to download redsn0w.
Now open redsn0w, and click the Browse button.
Locate your device’s IPSW file that you downloaded in step 2 and click Open.
The redsn0w window will have the “IPSW successfully identified” message. Click the Next button to continue.
redsn0w will ask you to “Please select which options you would like to have“. Make sure the Install Cydia box has a check on there and then click Next.
redsn0w will ask you to make sure your device is both OFF and PLUGGED IN to your computer. Make sure you plug in your device in to your computer and then turn it off. Click Next once you have done this.
redsn0w will now ask you to connect your device in DFU mode.

Hold down the Power button for 3 seconds
Without releasing the Power button, also hold down the Home (bottom center button) for 10 seconds
Without releasing the Home button, release the Power button BUT KEEP holding the Home button for 30 seconds

If you don’t do this properly you will get a DFU Mode Failed message and you’ll have to go back to step one.
Once this process is complete, your device will restart and it will have the Cydia icon!

Jailbreak iOS 4.2

Device Compatibility

All iOS devices will be jailbreakable on iOS 4.2 and future firmware updates. This means you can jailbreak iPhone 4 4.2, jailbreak iPhone 3GS 4.2, jailbreak iPhone 3G 4.2, jailbreak iPhone 2G 4.2, jailbreak iPhone 4.2, jailbreak iPod touch 4G 4.2, jailbreak iPod touch 3G 4.2, jailbreak iPod touch 2G 4.2, jailbreak iPod touch 4.2, jailbreak iPad 3G 4.2, and jailbreak iPad 4.2 firmware.

Tethered Jailbreak vs Untethered Jailbreak

Some devices may be tethered. This means that you will need to jailbreak iOS 4.2 each time you reboot your iOS device. Untethered jailbreak means you only need to jailbreak once and you can reboot without having to jailbreak iOS 4.2 every time. The good news is that most of the devices will be untethered.

Jailbreak iOS 4.2 Software

You will be able to jailbreak iOS 4.2 with either redsn0w (Windows,Mac, Linux), greenpois0n (Windows,Mac, Linux), or limera1n (Windows, Mac).
