HTC EVO 4G Update Removes 30FPS Cap, and Fixes GPS Reboot, Multiple Gmail Account Sync, and Calendar Event Edit Issue

HTC EVO 4G users recently got an update from HTC which removes the 30FPS cap, fixes GPS reboot, fixes multiple Gmail Account syncing bug, and also fixes the Calendar Event edit bug. If you are an HTC EVO 4G user, you should definitely update to this latest version. The version # is HTC – EVO 4G (A9292) – 3.29.651.5.

The biggest fix in the HTC EVO 4G update was, no doubt, the 30FPS cap removal. Now that the HTC EVO 4G has no FPS cap limit, it’s more responsive, and everything runs much more smoother. Don’t take my word for it, watch the YouTube video here to see the difference.

If you didn’t get the OTA update for your HTC EVO 4G phone yet, you can manually download it from HTC’s server here. After downloading, rename the file to update.zip and save it to your microSD card. Reboot your HTC Evo 4G in to recovery mode. Turn your phone off, hold the volume down button and press the power button. Once the white screen boots up, use the volume button to select RECOVERY and press the power button again. The EVO will now boot in to recovery mode. Hold the volume up button and press the power button and then choose applysdcard:update.zip. Once it’s all done, you can head on over to Android Central and thank them for this.

Motorola Droid X and Android 2.2 Froyo Bug

Motorola Droid X users got the Android 2.2 Froyo Update on Wednesday, September 22. Many Droid X fans were really excited to see this update, but unfortunately there were some annoying bugs in the Droid X Android 2.2 Froyo Update. The most annoying bug involved the way text messages were handled on the Droid X phone.

The Droid X Froyo 2.2 update has changed the order of text messages. The most recent sent text message appears at the top, and received text messages appear wherever that conversation happens to be in the list. Notifications are not appearing in the notification bar consistently. The Droid X phone also pauses or hangs whenever entering text messages from the standard keyboard (you can use Swype for now if you want to avoid this).

The only thing Droid X users on Android 2.2 can do is just wait for Motorola to issue a software update that fixes the bugs. Motorola is aware of this issue, and Matt from Motorola Droid support forums mentioned that the engineering team are already on it and they are working on fixing up the bugs. Unfortunately no ETA has been announced, but we’ll let you know as soon as the update is released.

Motorola Droid X and Droid 2 Android 2.2 Froyo Update Details

Motorola Droid X and Droid 2 Android 2.2 Froyo software updates are wanted by many Android users. Luckily for Droid 2 users, the Froyo 2.2 update is already pre-loaded. Motorola Droid X users will need to wait until Verizon officially releases the OTA update for Droid X. According to Android Community, the Droid X 2.2 update may be released about 2 weeks from now.

If you are a Droid X user and you are anxious to update to Android 2.2, you can do that by downloading a leaked version of the Droid X Froyo update. Just search on Google and you’ll find many sites offering the downloads. The leaked version is not final, and you’ll need to go back to 2.1 to update to the real 2.2 update once it’s released. Unless you’re familiar with the game of downloading leaked updates, I recommend not to do it.

Many Droid X users are waiting for Android 2.2 Froyo for Droid X because the Droid 2.2 update significantly speeds up the whole Android operating system by 2 to 5 times, and also provides full Flash support. Droid X Appears on Verizon Website, New Droid Phone

Droid X is the name of Verizon and Motorola’s new Droid phone. The Verizon website describes this phone as “The Next Generation of Does”. You can see a picture of the Droid X hardware above this text. Hovering over the Droid X on Verizon’s website reveals the following specs:

4.3 inch display
HDMI output
Captures 720p

Verizon HTC Droid Incredible: Best Alternative to iPhone 4G/HD or EVO 4G

The HTC Droid Incredible phone by Verizon is selling like hotcakes, but it will soon get competition from HTC EVO 4G and Apple’s upcoming iPhone 4G. If rumors are true,Verizon may be launching a Verizon iPhone. The sales of the Droid Incredible comes as no surprise to me, because this is currently the best Android phone in the market. In my opinion, the Droid Incredible is definitely the best alternative to the iPhone 4G.

According to Verizon Wireless Chief Executive, Lowell McAdam, the Droid Incredible would outsell their Motorola Droid phone if they did not have any shortages. The shortages of the Droid Incredible are partially due to components like the advanced screens made by Samsung Electronics. The Droid Incredible sells so fast, that McAdam says that it sells within hours of shipping in to stores.

Right now having enough Droid Incredible’s in supply is a problem for Verizon. Let’s hope they get this sorted ASAP, because in June they will get competition from HTC EVO 4G and iPhone 4G.

HTC Droid Eris getting Android 2.1 update

The HTC Droid Eris is getting the Android 2.1 software update, as confirmed on the Verizon website. No release date has been announced, but various reports hint at it being released by the end of May.

HTC Droid Eris runs Google’s Android Cupcake operating system, has a 528MHz Qualcomm processor, 288 MB RAM, 3.2 inch touch screen, and a 5.0 mega-pixel camera w/Auto Focus.

HTC Droid Incredible available today, summer 2010 release for HTC Evo 4G

HTC Droid Incredible is available today, summer 2010 is the release date for the new HTC Evo 4G. If you are planning on getting the Droid Incredible today, you can from Verizon. The HTC Evo 4G will be available on Sprint in summer 2010 and it will support Sprint’s WiMAX network so you may want to consider that phone as well.

You can get the HTC Droid Incredible online from Verizon, or at your local Best Buy store as well. Both offer an instant mail-in rebate. If you get it from your local Verizon store, you’ll need to file the mail-in rebate.
