Apple hires Jailbreak Developer, Comex

JailbreakMe by Comex

Remember the guy who made the easy to use JailbreakMe software? Nicholas Allegra aka Comex got hired by Apple as an intern. Congratulations Comex, you deserve this job! Comex will be starting his job the week after next. He hasn't revealed his job position yet, but judging by his skills he will probably be working on security.

What does that mean for the jailbreaking community? Well, once he starts working with Apple he definitely won't be allowed to build jailbreaks. But in response to someone saying "RIP JailbreakMe" on twitter he said that he does hope MuscleNerd from the iPhone Dev Team will be able to work on JailbreakMe 4.0. If Comex is in a security related field, then this will definitely make the cat and mouse game more interesting and fun for other jailbreak developers.

Apple is lucky to have Comex working for them. Please don't think of Comex as evil or a traitor, because he is just thinking about his future. This is just an intern and it will definitely help build his credits and get more experience in his field.

Good luck for him, but he has to know that he will be put to the Loyalty & Trust Test.

Its obvious. Apple couldn't beat him so they hired him to silence him.

Who's to say that just cuz he's working on the inside that he couldn't use that to help out the jailbreaking, especially if he didn't put his name on it? I know I'd certainly leak the way to jailbreak easier as long as it couldn't be traced back to me. I say this because he knows how hard it is to get a new break going. He could be helping prevent it at the same time as allowing it. Just because they patched the break doesn't mean you have to update until that new patch has one right?

I know it's too much to hope for, but maybe his skills can be used to keep the interior secure enough for Apple's legal needs, while allowing them to open up some of the interface mods and other app repositories many of us have come to know and love.

Do you think it's a coincidence that he got hired right around the time that Jobs left???

Congrats! Apple is founded by "hackers", who always use original and sharp thinking to break stereotypes of computing, to make it much more enjoyable, comfortable and "humane". It's a great luck what another brilliant mind started to work together with them.

It's obvious, they couldn't silence him so they hire him.

Good luck to the guy! He certainly deserves his place at Apple.
Maybe having access to their facilities will see the introduction of a multitude of new tweaks for our awesome devices :D

of course if they did hire him to stop jail breaks and they still occur it could be bad career decision.
