Verizon Wireless to Offer iPad Starting October 28

Written By Unknown on Thursday, October 14, 2010 | 10:43 AM

iPad Verizon WirelessToday Verizon Wireless and Apple both announced that iPad will be available at over 2,000 Verizon Wireless Stores starting at October 28. Three bundles will be offered by Verizon Wireless:

  • iPad Wi-Fi 16 GB + MiFi ($629.99)

  • iPad Wi-Fi 32 GB + MiFi ($729.99)

  • iPad Wi-Fi 64GB + MiFi ($829.99)

Verizon Wireless is offering the following monthly access plans to iPad customers:

  • $20 for 1 GB ($20/1GB overage)

  • $35 for 3 GB ($10/1GB overage)

  • $50 for 5 GB ($10/1GB overage)

All iPad models are Wi-Fi models, so how does Verizon provide 3G connection to the iPad? Well, it uses the MiFi 2200. The MiFi 2200 Mobile Hotspot will allow you to create a hotspot allowing you to share Verizon Wireless Mobile Broadband 3G high-speed Internet connectivity with up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices like iPad, notebooks, notebooks, cameras, gaming devices, or portable media/MP3 players.

Unfortunately there is no 3G iPad being offered on Verizon. Since the iPad being offered by Verizon is a WiFi iPad, the iPad won't be upgradeable to 4G. For more information you can check the Verizon iPad site.

So are you getting the iPad on Verizon? I already have the iPad 3G with AT&T, and don't want to carry around an extra device like the MiFi 2200. It's just easier to buy the iPad 3G and pay $30/mo. (no contract) for unlimited data right from the iPad.

AT&T blows for voice but is probably the best for data. So one must ask Why???

Forget finding other retailers and bring on the iPad 2. Santa wants one for Christmas.

Unfortunately, new ipad 3G owners do not get to use a $29.99 unlimited data plan on AT&T. They can pick between a $15 for 200MB or $25 for 2GB. Don't let your subscription expire either if you were grandfathered in on the unlimited or you'll lose it forever.

Shall we dare say that with this announcement that Verizon is releasing the iPhone 4 or 5??

@Gnewt75 I'll bet this deal between Apple & Version is similar to the deal struck between Walmart & Apple. So to answer your question, yes, this will eventually lead to a contract deal between Version & Apple to sell the iPhone.
