Google Doodle logo for Today, September 8 (9/8/10)
If you go to the main page of Google.com today, you’ll see that the Google Doodle logo for today, September 8 (9/8/10) is a colorless Google logo. As you start typing in the search box you will notice a cursor blinking and each letter in the Google logo will start coloring itself.
Google doesn’t just change it’s logo for no reason at all. There is always a meaning behind the logo. I’m not sure what the reason is behind this logo, as Google can be mysterious at times. A tweet from the official Google Twitter account says: “Our doodle is dressing up in its brightest colors for something exciting coming very soon…”. Can you guess what that is?
The name of the Google Doodle logo for today is keystroke10-hp.png. If you can decipher the meaning of the Google Doodle, feel free to share it in the comments section.

Interesting.
It’s in reference to Google Scribe which is being launched today. Scribe autocompletes and suggests words as you type to help speed up search.
My theory is that google is wearing white after Labor Day. Such a fashion no no :)
its just to show off HTML5 just like the last google doodle where the logo exploded based on mouse presence.
It celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz — the 1st movie in color. It starts in B&W in Kansas & when Dorothy awakes in Oz, it’s in color. It caused quite a stri in it’s day.
They’ve already had the Wizard of Oz celebration logo a couple of weeks back. I don’t think they’d do another one, seeing as the anniversary isn’t today, either.
the Wizard of Oz was put out on August 25, 1939
Um…the “Wizard of Oz” wasn’t released 70 years ago today, math wiz…and it wasn’t released on this day.
its not for the 70th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz, if you look back at previous google logos they had one about a month ago for the 71st anniversary of the Wizard of Oz
Right b/c the Wiz od Oz has not been done this year wait it has with dorthy in it WTF
Surely this is another demonstration of Google’s development of HTML5? From what I can see in the Source code, its not quite using Html5 full, but elements of it are there.
I too looked at the background image name and searched 10-HP. This is apparently one of the simplest calculators ever made. I can only assume this is a tribute to it. More info here: http://www.hpmuseum.org/hp10.htm
I think this is being over thought,
keystroke10-hp.png
a keystroke is when a key is entered, in this case in the search box. hp is homepage. So this image is the homepage image when no keys are entered. Youll notice the image filename changes when letters are entered into the textbox.
I agree with Chris that this is something to with HTML5 following yesterdays doodle too.
Most likely from yesterday’s logo as well, They are gearing up for their own birthday. Yesterdays was symbolic of excitement and today (as they said) They are getting “dressed up”.
Also I found this when googling “Google Birthday”
Happy Birthday from HTC®
http://www.HTC.com You’re the Most Accomplished 12 Year Old We’ve Ever Met.
Their founding date is (September 4, 1998 (1998-09-04) but they like to celebrate during the month not the exact day.
Its the launch of google tv….conin soon!!!
hp-10 is a calculator
Clearly this means that Jesus is coming soon.
It’s the new search tool from Google: Instant.
Isn’t google doing a tablet with HP and Android that’s supposed to come out soon?
