Frash Will Allow You to Install Flash on iPad

Frash iPadApple themselves have stated that they will never add support for Adobe Flash Player on the iPad or any of it’s other mobile devices. If you were one of the many people upset by this, then you should be happy by what you will read here. A hacker named comex has managed to run Flash on the iPad, and is working on making it available to other iPad users. The Flash installer is named “Frash” 5GBE99275V6D.

Frash is currently in beta. The developer of this program plans on releasing Frash as soon as he manages to get it to be more stable. As of right now Flash can run most Flash programs natively on the iPad. A video of Flash Player on iPad in action can be seen here.

If you are a developer, you can find out how to download and install Frash from here. The libflashplayer.so file is required in order to use the Frash software, so unless you have an Android phone you won’t be able to install it.

Apple said nothing of the sort. (And, by the way, that should be “its.”) Apple stated that they would be happy to talk with Adobe as soon as Adobe had a version of Flash that (a) ran on mobile devices, (b) didn’t crash and (c) didn’t consume excessive power. That hasn’t happened yet.

They actually stated that they wont support it because it wouldn’t be possible to control things like flash games on those devices.

They most certainly did say that. They even posted it on their own website. they basically said “Flash is old, we are using HTML5 and deal with it. You don’t need your old websites or Flash apps. Find something else to use.”
I have 2 iPads and I love them, but if they can’t do what I want them to do, I’ll jailbreak them and screw Apple. Their customer service consists of “have you tried turning it off and on again? Oh, ok, we’ll replace it then…in 6-8 weeks for delivery”

heres hoping to apple using or copying some of flashes code in there own version, wud love to see another lawsuit against them.
On another idea adobe could stop them altogether as it a copyright issue just like apple are always claiming other mobile companys infring there copyright even though they stole it from open source technology.

Read the articule posted by Jason, written by Steve Jobs. Apple will not use Flash on it’s mobile devices and, if we can believe what Mr. Jobs says, for good reason. Read for yourself and decide, but I’m still getting an iPad.

The main reason i see that apple refuses flash is due to security and controls. People would complain about how it would crash or would be ahrd to control. Try playing heliAttack3 on an ipod touch sized screen…. How will that work?
The only other option is for external input devices.
Flash has also been known to have exploits, and apple does not want more “developers” hacking their platform they worked so hard to keep closed. Hackers could also make virus’s that could affect the “root” of the device and could lead to threats just like the PDF exploit. It did bring new possibilities with jail breaking, but it can (and was) used for VERY malicious acts.
Plus, i am not sure if the iOS is x86 or if it is some other architecture, like PowerPC, which the Macs use. I think they are switching to x86 though.
Flash just isnt feasible on a mobile device, yes android has it, but it is limited and can lead to exploits. Android really doesnt care much that people develop hacks or other programs not supported by android market.
Its just what apple has been used to. I do agree they are proprietary and want to control apps, but there are other reasons too. Overall i do like that .swf support is not native. It would be a whole new beast to deal with. What next? Running x86 programs on the touch?
