HTC EVO 4G on Sprint Can Take On iPhone 4
HTC EVO 4G on Sprint can take on iPhone 4, at least according to Robert Brust, Sprint’s chief financial officer. At a investor conference on Wednesday, Brust admitted that new iPhone releases have made Sprint loose their customers to AT&T’s network for the past 3 years. Brust believes that with the HTC EVO 4G, Sprint won’t loose as much customers to iPhone 4.
Brust also said that the HTC EVO 4G is a phone that people could get instead of the iPhone, while the Palm Pre was a phone for people who did not want iPhone. Despite Sprint’s 4G network not being available in a lot of areas throughout the US, Sprint’s HTC EVO 4G still received good sales.
Apple plans to release their new iPhone 4 two weeks from now, on June 24. As aSprint customer I wouldn’t be switching to iPhone 4, simply because Sprint’s network is great in my area and the HTC EVO 4G phone seems like a better phone than the iPhone 4.

“HTC EVO 4G phone seems like a better phone than the iPhone 4″
Ehh… The EVO sounds like a plasticy piece of shit when you try and take the cover off to change your constantly dieing battery, and it’s certainly like walking around with a brick in your pocket. Furthermore, the performance stats on it – which are crucial to any Android fan who beats his chest to others constantly with stats that he doesn’t fully understand – aren’t anything that great compared to other Android phones out there on better carriers.
The iPhone4, on the other hand, is made out of extremely high grade stainless steel and helicopter windshield glass and is less than 1cm thick. Apple’s endless hyperbole aside, there simply is no comparable-grade phone. Performance-wise, no statistics were named on how fast it was, but people do know that it’s got the same hardware as an iPad, and the one thing everyone has to say in the iPads favor is that it runs like a scalded dog.

Consider yourself lucky. AT&T is the worst thing about the iPhone, and Sprint is the worst thing about the EVO 4G. Well, okay the battery life is, but Sprint sucks too. Just look @ their coverage map compared to AT&T or Verizon.
The EVO’s screen is nice, but now that the iPhone4′s trumped it, the only thing special about the EVO anymore is its 4G. I have Clear 4G at home – the same 4G as Sprints. It’s lolwtf awful, and I rue the day I got conned into a contract with those bastards. I’ll pass on the EVO, thanks. The HTC Droid Extreme is going to completely nullify the market for the EVO since it’s the same phone with better coverage (and hopefully a better quality camera, lol – when are people going to learn megapixels have so very little to do w/ sensor quality??) and the same huge screen. What’s worse? The market fragmentation caused by these competing products will hurt only Android, not iPhone. Android looks fantastic on paper – and the niche market of nerds that like their phones to have PC-like stats and capabilities is finite in number. 9 out of 10 consumers do not care about that shit.
