What must-have features should every mobile phone have? What features would you easily give up?
For me, every mobile phone must have a browser that supports full HTML 5 and renders web pages properly, application store, e-mail app, and a decent camera that can record videos and take pictures with good quality. The phone must also be available on multiple carriers. I would like to be able to choose what operating system I want on the phone too, but I don’t see this ever happening. Features that I can easily give up are things like QWERTY keyboard, or a removable battery.

camera and video, though I wish the quality (lens!!) was a little better. my phone has replaced my iPod though – i’m grateful to not have another device to carry around!
Email & text, after that it’s all gravy. My computer is my source of tech gadgets – not the thing in my pocket.
Must haves: web browser, gps & maps, music, calendar, mail. And the ability to run third-party apps.
Frankly, I could give up phone calling. Email and SMS suffice.
get an ipod touch, it runs gps apps with external gps reciever using ROQYBLUETOOTH
Tempting, but 3G data is pretty important too. Now if Apple offered a 3G iPod touch (similar to 3G iPad) with the same $30/month unlimited plan, I might just go for that!
i feel my phone must have a huge screen, email, completely touch screen, gps, email. eitheri would love a phone that dual boots. great camera and plenty of memory and processor power. must have a market and open source. i can give up games and a removable batt.
a must have for my phone are:
- large screen
- multi-touch
- 3.5mm jack
- microusb adaptor
- 3g
- bluetooth (with file transfer and a2dp)
- a music app with the ability to create playlist via file manager not song lists (imagine you have 800 songs lol)! (damn i hate the music app of omnia ii and spica, sony ericsson software is best at this!)
- email client
- fast html5 browser
- amazing camera at least 5mp
- fast processor and support for 3d gaming
- plenty of on-board memory for app installation and files
- great video playback
- tv out/hdmi out (tv out on omnia ii is very useful)
- tethering
- micro sdhc
- alarm
- mp3 as ringtone
- wifi
- turn-by-turn navigation or at least maps with working gps
what i don’t need:
- pre-installed facebook app
- pre-installed myspace app
- exchange support
- fm radio
- projector
- led flash light
- microsims
- hand writing recognition
- voice recognition
good to have but not needed:
- tv tuner
- fm transmitter
- adobe flash
- flip stand
- qwerty keyboard
- xenon flash

For my phone
1.large screen
2.Wifi , 3G
3. 2way camera
4.adobe flash
5.led flash light
6.micro sd
7.changeable battery
8. A GPS
9.Blue tooth linkable for any tool (not like iphone)
10. good os
1. Big Screen
2. SMS, Calling, 3G

I prefer a fast phone. I bought Iphone just because it’s very fast, much faster than other phone. If a phone is not fast enough, it’ll be really bothered when you need to use Multi-Function… Hope that the phones will be supported with better processor chip, the speed can be up to 2Ghz, that’ll be very nice if that become true.
2 keypad, qwerty and normal 1, camera like digital camera, video capture like handycam quality, 50gb, smooth operating system like iPhone, left handed friendly, good sound quality like altec lansing speaker, high definition, fm transmitter is a must, wifi, bluetooth, infra red, long battery life that can last about 2 days, scratch proof, beautiful design like N81 8gb, N95 8gb. Must be light not heavy, very strong (not easily broken), usb slot, earpiece, charger slots.
A light indicator that shows new email or messages like the blackberrys, The Iphone need one urgent.
I like how nobody actually mentions being able to make calls. I guess that one was a given. For me that’s all I need it to do everything else is just icing on the cake. I keep my expectations low so I never get dissappointed.
Torch, Bluetooth with all functions available unlike iPhone, 8MP HD camera for HD stills and HD video, 8GB Onboard usable memory, HSPDA 7.1MB for broadband, Microsoft Exchange with ability to have more than 1 exchange mailbox. Customisable SMS/E-Mail/Ring Tone, Adobe Flash.
My phone must:
-Make calls
-send sms, mms, email
-full web browser, flash isn’t necessary
-Large screen
-if touch screen, it must be a good screen like the iphone, not some crappy screen like the BBStorm
-camera, video
-lots of accessories
-qwerty keyboard, doesn’t have to be physical
-also dvorak option
Features I must have in a phone
-Removable battery
-Long battery life 5+ hours talk time
-full browser supporting HTML 5, Java, maybe flash
-Bluetooth All Profiles
-Good Camera 3.2 MP or greater
-video recording
built in memory 16GB or more
Features I can live without
-physical keyboard
ipod touch 2g user should have all the features 4.0 firmware give and a landscape springboard!!!!!
being able to delete songs right from your ipod touch!
A firmware is enough to speed up an ipod touch softwarely!
its not always a device!?
I always wanted what I call a “Swiss Army Phone” (like the Swiss Army knives)
I say, put everything you can into a phone…. as long as you still have enough space to add your music, photos and apps.
The iphone 3gs comes very close to my vision. The only thing holding it back is tethering, but that is AT&Ts fault.
