The iPhone 4G up there was acquired by a tech blog, you will learn more on that here. First, many iPhone users are hoping to see a Verizon iPhone. There have been only rumors so far, and nothing has been found that proves Apple may offer the iPhone 4G on the Verizon Wireless network. The CEO of Verizon Communications has expressed interest in having the iPhone on Verizon, so it’s Apple’s choice now.

The iPhone 4G in the picture above was accidentally left by an Apple employee in a bar. He was drunk and did not remember to take it with him. Someone in the bar found the iPhone 4G, picked it up and decided to sell it to popular tech blog, Gizmodo. Gizmodo would do anything to receive free press, which even means paying $4,000 for an exclusive story. Gizmodo decided to go ahead and pay the person who found the iPhone 4G. At that time Gizmodo had no idea the iPhone 4G was stolen. Gizmodo decided to post pictures of the iPhone 4G online along with a video.

Once Gizmodo started posting the pictures of the leaked iPhone 4G prototype, they got more than 10 million pageviews to their article and they made headlines on major news sites like CNN, and Fox News. Of course Apple found out and they immediately sent Gizmodo a legal notice. That notice confirmed to us that Gizmodo really did have an iPhone 4G prototype.

Gizmodo’s blogger returned the iPhone 4G to Apple. Unsurprisingly, Apple still went ahead and called the cops to investigate in to the iPhone 4G stolen prototype case. Investigators had a search warrant to break in to a Gizmodo blogger’s house and seize his computers, and iPhones without his permission.

Right now the Gizmodo site and the blogger’s are safe. I think Apple may have planted this just for getting all the buzz that they did. Apple should be happy that Gizmodo helped other people advertise their iPhone 4G before the launch. On the other hand they’re definitely loosing sales right now because now people know Apple is launching an iPhone 4G this year.

If you don’t want to get the iPhone 4G, there are some really good alternatives for it. First, the HTC Droid Incredibly on Verizon is the best alternative right now. Second, if you can wait until June 4 and you’re on Sprint, the HTC EVO 4G is the best competitor of the iPhone 4G.
