Apple doesn’t need a Verizon iPhone since they’re already getting good sales with AT&T, it’s actually the opposite, Verizon needs the iPhone. While there have been many rumors of a Verizon iPhone coming to the Verizon wireless network, there are also rumors of Apple launching the iPhone 4G on Verizon in 2011 instead of 2010. The iPhone 4G hardware was also leaked online so many consumers now know what features it will have.
The next iPhone 4.0 software download will be available for iPhone 4G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, and iPod touch users in June 2010. It will add support for multi-tasking, video chat, possibly file sharing as discovered in the beta firmware releases and over 100 more features. The video chat will only be supported on the new iPhone.
Even if the iPhone does not launch on Verizon this year, Apple will have some serious competition from Verizon and Sprint. Verizon has their HTC Droid Incredible phone which is currently the best Android phone to date, and Sprint is releasing the nation’s first 4G phone, the HTC Evo 4G in summer. It will be interesting to see how things go this summer.
