Verizon iPhone 4G release date, new iPhone 4G, and iPhone 4.0 software

Written By Unknown on Friday, April 23, 2010 | 6:00 AM

A lot of people want the Verizon iPhone, but chances of Apple launching one this year are very slim. The photo above is a prototype of the new iPhone 4G hardware with iPhone OS 4.0 software which Apple is releasing in June. The iPhone 4G prototype has a micro-sim slot which means that it won't be available on Verizon. According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple will have two iPhone's this summer so there could potentially be a Verizon iPhone but it would be on Verizon's CDMA network instead of 4G network.

Apple does not need to launch on Verizon, since they're already getting a lot of revenue with AT&T and iPhone sales. Verizon needs the iPhone because it would make them become very huge, but it could also mean bad news for AT&T. If Verizon gets the iPhone, AT&T may loose a lot of customers to Verizon. We don't know if AT&T renewed their contract with Apple yet, but if they did then this means Apple can't launch the iPhone on Verizon. If we don't get a Verizon iPhone this year, analysts estimate 2011 will definitely be the year forVerizon iPhone launch.

what are you talking about? just because the model they found wasn't verizon capable doesn't prove anything about that. Second who says the sim will be the only card it it?

Well said. Just because one model doesn't support verizon doesn't mean another model won't. We already know there's more than one new iPhone in the works; I'm staying optimistic. And although the iphone has been making plenty of business on AT&T, that's nothing compared to what it will do on a real network.

Check out the specs for Verizon's LTE 4g network that should be out around November. Its CDMA AND GSM. So I envision apple creating an iPhone that is dual band to handle the 4G verizon network around Christmas. Pure speculation as I work for Verizon Wireless but have heard nothing about the iPhone being released only certain details about the LTE 3G network and its capabilities.

The iPad has AT&T at capacity. They've got to go to another carrier or they'll start losing customers.

AT&T may "loose" a lot of customers to Verizon? Sorry to be the spelling and grammar police but it's hard to believe that you know what you're talking about when you can't even spell a simple word.

plus At&t's contract with apple expires 2011

Actually the iphone will come to Verizon, it is just a matter of when. There are currently 80 million plus Verizon customers and at least half of them will want the iphone. If Apple originally offered the iphone to Verizon, which they did, then they will offer it to them again.
