Verizon iPhone 4G, new iPhone, new iPod touch, and iPhone 4.0 releasedate

Written By Hans Berger on Thursday, April 22, 2010 | 10:42 AM

A Verizon iPhone release is expected to be coming in June, and even the CEO of Verizon has expressed interest in launching a Verizon iPhone but not confirmed anything. The new iPhone 4G prototype photo on the top shows that the iPhone will have a front facing camera. It will also be running iPhone 4.0 software.

There are also reports that the iPhone may not come on to Verizon until 2011, because Verizon's 4G network is not even out. People are skeptical about Apple launching an iPhone that supports Verizon's outdated CDMA network. In June, during WWDC Apple will finally be announcing the new iPhone and letting us know what carriers it will be supported on. If AT&T is the only carrier, then it will be a sad day for people who were expecting Apple to support other carriers like Verizon or Sprint. In my opinion, Google is doing a better job than Apple because they are launching their phones on as many carriers as possible.

How can you say Verizons CDMA platform is outdated. When you review the facts GSM technology is the platform that is outdated. GSM technology was developed in the late 1970's while CDMA technology was developed by Qualcom in the late 1990's. That means GSM technology is 20 years behind CDMA technology. Maybe Quick PWN should require their editorial staff to do a little more research before they publish articles on the web.

The way I read it Gspot is that verizons network will be outdated due to Verizon switching to the LTE (4G) platform by the end of the year. so to make an iphone and launch it on the 3G when they can wait and make it more compatible to launch it on the 4G in 8 to 12 months would seem like not a great move on apples part.
