Bad job on the specs here… Gizmodo reported a smaller screen, but higher resolution on the new iPhone. Ie. smaller than 3.5″, though the resolution may be higher at 960×640. It’ll have the A4 processor. There are well over 200k apps in the Apple app store. Finally, the biggest difference is with regards to connectivity, WiMax vs. basic AT&T 3G coverage. We’ve also pretty much heard the HTC EVO 4G will launch on June 13th, and and that the iPhone HD will launch in late June, again, rumored to be June 22nd. I’m not even a blogger and I know all of this, and it’s all a Google search away. Glad to see your posting, but do a Google search next time prior to making a post.
In Gizmodo’s article they wrote 4.50 by 2.31 by 0.37 inches. Did I read that wrong? I’ve updated the other information, thanks!
4.5″ is the size of the phone, not the size of the screen
The dimensions from the Gizmodo article are for the size of the phone not the screen.
Your wrong. Iphone- Height: 4.5 inches. It has the same size as the Iphone 3g. The screen size is measured diagonally, so the actual screen size is 3.5 inches. The Evo 4g has a diagonal measurement of 4.3 inches. So its much larger than the Ipone 4g. You should notice this just by the picture. I hope this helps, and please correct the article!!
Why is this even an article? First off iphone 4g? Go ahead and release it in June, but you’ve gotta have the 4g service first! I have a mac, and love Apple, but have never owned an iphone because of their lack of wanting to branch out… I mean come on, one carrier for all these years? How Stupid!!! How many more iphones could there be on the market? Now they are gonna be a year without 4g while the rest of the world will be enjoying 4g service, and android! They need to get off their high horse, and step up, or lose customers to faster growing smart phones and and service that is cheaper, and offers better service!
Wrong…iphone HD or iphone 4G is only going to have the 3.5 screen. The design is a little different but it’s been rumored to run on the new processor called the A4…the new OS is okay, but the HTC EVO 4g already has those features. HTC EVO 4g has a bigger screen, High Def support, flash support, mini HDMI port, and two cameras…3 megapixel for the front and an 8 mega pixel with DUAL LED flash on the back, AMOLED Screen, multi touch, multitask, it has hotspot..meaning you can use that hotspot from your phone to catch internet for your other devices…etc etc..many more from the HTC EVO 4g..iphone as of right now…it’s been rumored to have two cameras..one for the the front and a 5 megapixel camera with flash on the back, AMOLED Screen, multi touch, has its own way of multitasking..meaning it is not full multitasking..and that’s all as of right now..the new OS will have a few more features than the previous of course..like the folders and wallpaper change and others…this is a lot of stuff here…
@ sifu lo
Last check I read said that the EVO is going to have a TFT screen not AMOLED and the front camera is going to be 1.3 mp not 3mp. It still kicks the new iPhones backside!
sifu lo…..good job on most of the specs. But the Evo has a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera not a 3 megapixel. Maybe you typoed. I can’t wait for the Evo to be released!
@JC
Yep, can’t wait for the Evo to be released so I can have 2 EVOs.
One already in the garage and one soon-to-be released as a phone.
Hehe
@sifu lo … wrong again dude, its not going to be AMOLED, its going to use the same screen as the HD2
What!? No laser pointer? No mini projector!? What a flop for a phone! I’ll just fold my arms and look in the other direction and stay with my pre-paid Verizon! I can’t believe they would put so many features in a phone and forget the important ones! What about a saw? Does it have a flip out saw or maybe a screwdriver? How about a flint stone in case I get stuck in the middle of nowhere and need to start a fire? The nerve of some companies!! Oh well, I guess one can hope and dream…LOL, I can’t wait to pre-order this phone, the specs are almost identical to the Motoroi minus the TV tuner which is a phone I had followed forever. I can deal with the TFT over Amoled since there are sunlight issues. Now if I could just plug my VR glasses in to it and watch the HD movies.. external mini-usb port eh? Hmmmmmm…….
well see it gives you the digital compass and it gives you internet so you can google how to make fire w/o any flint
I’m just tired of all the Apple BS. I’m ready for a change. The EVO looks like what I want.
In remarks to RC, G in 4G means generation with apple launching the 4.0 firmware making it the 4th Generation iPhone… What an idiot. And as far as comparisson, if the Evo is gonna b anything like the HD2 for T-Mobile besides the running system, it is CRAP the phone os extremely laggy and the Google system is open source but yet none of there apps seem anywhere near as crisp and innovative as the iPhones. If you break the iPhone then it’s possibilities become endless. For people who hate the iPhone just don’t know how to get around those obsticals Apple presents to all of us. Which to me is rather fun if you can say. Like a war between the small amount of people that DO have a open source iPhone and apple themselves, challenging.
@Kyle. Ok so your saying you can develop an app with linux and port it straight to apple, using thier free dev kit, just because you jail break it? You cant. Shit I dont even have to do that with my pre, or with android. For one you still have to host it, if you dont do that then you have to ssh that shit, and it still cant hold a candle to the openess of Android or Palm. Apple sucks, fan boys are only here because they chase after the most popular thing, whether its better or not. You cant video chat on the Iphone, and you cant stream 720p video to a live online host site, or even to a tv for that matter. The Iphone has less Ram, smaller screen, less openess, less options, no widgets,no multitasking, and a close minded company that heads it all, that wont release the phone on any other network. Yeah they may have released this phone that was new, and at the time fresh, but with Apple closing the doors in developers faces, and the developers not making any money on thier apps, Google will catch get all the real technology fans, and the people who are intelligent when it comes to technology, while the apple fan boys feed into this Control game that apple has. Apple limits the possibilities of the Iphone, and even jailbroken cant give you the features that we want. The slow tethering from At&ts network, along with Verzion and Tmobiles, will suck compared to the 4g network that I already have in my city when the phone is released. At&t just added 3g a month ago, I’ve had 4g since aug of 09. BTW 8.5% of people jailbreak thier Iphone. Almost 1 in every 10. Android is not laggy that a false and retarded assumption on your part. The software is multiplatform, multihardware and has muliple manufactures. Your an idiot for saying that and that alone proves you have no idea what your talking about. Before you make assumptions, play with the Hero or Nexus One you would notice the potential and speed of the Android devices.
gonna have to completely agree with you michael, except for one small point, I believe what Kyle was referring to was the HD2 has recieved many reviews saying that the interface is laggy (the reason I didnt get rid of my crappy iphone for the HD2 when it came out) the laggy problems of the HD2 are related to running WiMo 6.5. The EVO 4g however runs Android so there wont be a problem. Just thought I would clear that up.
Ive had my iphone for almost 2 years now and I can not wait to get rid of it.
