Wait for Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 review; May get Android 2.1

Sony Xperia X10

Sony has already sent many bloggers a review unit of their upcoming Sony Experia X10 device. You can see the features/specs of this device at this link. The Sony Experia X10 is using a very customized version of Android 1.6, which is a pretty old version of Google's Android operating system.

Gizmodo has decided not to review the Sony Experia X10, because Sony told them that they will be releasing the device in Quarter 2 2010 with the latest Android operating system. Sony has not said which version, but it will probably be Android 2.1. If you're looking at other blogger reviews of the Sony Xperia X10, just know that it will be much different and you should hold any judgments you have until Sony releases it with the latest Android operating system.

I have just recieved this email from SE regarding the release of the latest version of Android, (isn't 2.1 already developed and on some HTC phones???), lets hope they are true to their word and that the update is too long coming...

"Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson support centre.

Andriod 2.1 will be released for the X10 however there is not a specific date at the moment, as soon as Andriod 2.1 has been developed and is ready to be made available for the X10 then it will be released and will be free of charge.

Kind Regards,
