Jailbreak iPod touch 3.1.3

Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2

The iPhone 3.1.3 update that Apple released today required users of jailbroken iPhones or iPod Touches to wait for a new jailbreak software to be released before updating. This jailbreak is for 3.1.2 but may work for iPod touch 2G 3.1.3, iPod touch 3G 3.1.3, or iPod touch first generation.

If you want to just jailbreak iPod touch 3.1.3 you can try the old jailbreak and see if it works, if not then you will need to just wait for updates here.

  • iPod touch 3.1.3 download (iPod1,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw, 241 MB)
  • iPod touch 2g  3.1.3 download (iPod1,2_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw, 242 MB)
  • iPhone 3g 3.1.3 download (iPod2,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw, 306 MB)

Note: Do no’t use Safari to download iPhone 3.1.2 IPSW files, instead use another browser. Safari downloads this as a .ZIP and iTunes is not able to recognize the firmware that way.

Jailbreak iPod touch 3.1.3 with blackra1n

1. Download blackra1n

blackra1n 3.1.2 jailbreak - make it ra1n

2. Click the make it ra1n button.

blackra1n icon - iPhone 3.1.2 jailbreak

3. Your iPhone or iPod Touch will reboot once blackra1n is done doing it’s thing and you should see the blackra1n icon on there. If you don’t see the blackra1n icon, go to the last page on your iDevice and you should see it.

iPhone 3.1.2 jailbreak - select applications

4. Install your preferred aplication from the blackra1n app. You have the option of choosing Cydia, Icy, or Rock. I don’t recommend you to install them all at once, because that may cause problems. Install them one at a time.

Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 with PwnageTool

iPhone 3.1.2 jailbreak and unlock - Pwnage Tool 3.1.4

1. Download PwnageTool 3.1.4 (only works with Mac!)

PwnageTool for iPhone 3.1.2

2. You will be creating a custom IPSW and then restoring it through iTunes. If you don’t know how to do that, read my jailbreak iPhone 3.1 with PwnageTool post which gives step by step instructions.

Hey i have been trying to jailbreak my ipod touch for the longest time and have been having so much trouble i watched a bunch of videos and followed different instructions. My Ipod is a 2g and is on 3.1.3. I tried the redsnow thing but Redsnow crashes when i get to the downloading part. I downgraded to 3.1.2 and tried using black ra1n but it just gets stuck. My Ipod is not an MC model. I have no clue what is wrong or what i should do. Any Help would be greatly appreciated. I am on a PC.

    • Mitch says:

I had the same problem when I jailbroke with blackrain, but then I left my iPod up (on the home screen), and did it again. Whalah. I don’t know if you did that or not, but it’s worth a shot.

I have a iPod Touch 3G MC Model using the 3.1.3 update.I used the blackrain thing and pressed the make it rain button but after that it pops up with a message saying that the jailbreak is done.

Well iv’ed waited for around 5-10 minutes just waiting and waiting but finally just stopped.I’m wondering how long does it take to do it?

Or is it the fact that it can be jailbroken because of MC model…

    • Nickmadkiller says:

Oh and to add it says the jailbreak will be done once it reboots.Well…it never does reboot. It sits there by my computer with a blank screen. It’s on but it’s not doing anything. But when I turn it off by holding the buttons it goes off and comes back on with the original settings.

If anybody can help then thanks.

      • Sam says:

Thats because the iPod Touch MC Models are impossible to jailbreak or unlock. MC Are the newer 2G and 3G model iPod Touches. I hope this helped, and sorry too.

or something like that when i do the shift + restore and select the 3.1.2 firmware for 3G

    Hi,
I followed the steps to jailbreak my iPod Touch 3.1.3 (7E18) and I made it until it says done, wait for reboot then my ipod screen stays black and no picture. And then I have to restart my ipod cause I can’t do anything about it. How could I jailbreak my iPod?

    Thanks!
    Marisa

    • Sam says:

You run Redsn0w 0.9.4 or whatever other jailbreakign utility you’re using and instead of clicking on “Install Cydia” you click “Run tethered” but only after your screen stays black re-run the jailbreak but with the tethered option and not install cydia.

  8. Eric says:

That’s because it is for the 3.1.2 not the 3.1.3 Once one comes out for the ipod touch 3.1.3 you can do it. So until then the make it ra1n and red snow will not work.

  9. Chris H says:

Listen guys if you have ipod touch 3g 8gb and you want to downgrade to 3.1.2 it will work if you just listen downgrade your device using the 3.1.2 firmware from ipod touch 2generation after that it will work only 3g 8gb if you have 32gb it will not work good luck guys email me if you have any question =)

  14. Sheldon says:

When you try to downgrade the ipod boots up in restore. When you shut it off and turn it back on again it boots up with no screen.

    AND…

If you so happen to get blackra1n, etc. to work if you shut your iPod off or it looses power to a no life extent or if you have to reboot your iPod to run another app from cydia or rockyou you just get the restore screen again

    • gavin says:

in cydia if you clicked make my life easier when you jailbroke it then yes but if not then sry mate

    • rye says:

yup, it’s possible considering it has already been jailbroken. have u downloaded the 3.1.2. firmware? if so, you can restore ur device from itunes by holding shift & restore button at the same time then browse from the pop-up window the 3.1.2 firmware uv downloaded. jst click it & it will do the process. good luck!

    • rye says:

oops, before doing so, make sure ur device is in recovery mode and then connect it to your pc. from there, jst follow the instructions i’ve mentioned.

      • Jason says:

i did that and it doesnt work for me, i get an error that says the requested build isnt compatible.

Thats what I had happen to me.You’ll just have to wait till a new jailbreak comes out for the 3.1.3.Or you could downgrade but that takes a lot of time just by finding it and then getting it to some how work.
