Jailbreak iPod touch 3.1.3
The iPhone 3.1.3 update that Apple released today required users of jailbroken iPhones or iPod Touches to wait for a new jailbreak software to be released before updating. This jailbreak is for 3.1.2 but may work for iPod touch 2G 3.1.3, iPod touch 3G 3.1.3, or iPod touch first generation.
If you want to just jailbreak iPod touch 3.1.3 you can try the old jailbreak and see if it works, if not then you will need to just wait for updates here.
- iPod touch 3.1.3 download (iPod1,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw, 241 MB)
- iPod touch 2g 3.1.3 download (iPod1,2_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw, 242 MB)
- iPhone 3g 3.1.3 download (iPod2,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw, 306 MB)
Note: Do no’t use Safari to download iPhone 3.1.2 IPSW files, instead use another browser. Safari downloads this as a .ZIP and iTunes is not able to recognize the firmware that way.
Jailbreak iPod touch 3.1.3 with blackra1n
2. Click the make it ra1n button.
3. Your iPhone or iPod Touch will reboot once blackra1n is done doing it’s thing and you should see the blackra1n icon on there. If you don’t see the blackra1n icon, go to the last page on your iDevice and you should see it.
4. Install your preferred aplication from the blackra1n app. You have the option of choosing Cydia, Icy, or Rock. I don’t recommend you to install them all at once, because that may cause problems. Install them one at a time.
Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 with PwnageTool
1. Download PwnageTool 3.1.4 (only works with Mac!)
2. You will be creating a custom IPSW and then restoring it through iTunes. If you don’t know how to do that, read my jailbreak iPhone 3.1 with PwnageTool post which gives step by step instructions.

i want to break my iPod Touch 3G 3.1.3 but i can’t find the software, I shoul’ve bought the 2G if only i knew that ill wait for couples of months more.
Really, iPod will always be a useless brick without third party apps on it.
Yeh i just bought a new ipod touch a couple of days ago and can’t jailbreak it because of the new software. Anyone know how long we have to wait for the new jailbreaking software?
They aren’t going to release a jailbreak before 4.0 comes in June, because if they release it now, apple will just fix it before they launch 4.0; so yeah you’ll have to wait :P
You can use the firmware for a 2nd gen ipod on your 3rd gen. If you do this, then you are able to jailbrak your 3rd gen ipod touch, even if it is an MC model. :) Cheers, and happy jailbreaking.
I tried to do it, but the ipt3g give me a error 28.

i dont think blackra1n is capable of doing it as of now (referring to 3.1.3)
Blackra1n still works you just have to move the .exe file to an itunes directory and create a shortcut and you stop getting errors. Google it, very simple.

u have 2 downgrade it to 2nd generation 3.1.2 i have the brand new ipod and jailbroke it…DONT let it go n2 recovery mode after you jailbreak it because you’ll have 2 start over after you install the right firmware use blackra1n to jailbreak it

just click restore in itunes, go to devices, click on your itouch go to version and click restore.

i have games on my ipod and if i restore, will it erase all my saved data? i would prefer not to lose all of it…

The method being taught only works with the “3rd gen 8gb ipod touch” aka 2nd gen MC model…. The 32 and 64gb model are the only actual new 3rd gens, so downgrading itunes and using 2nd gen firmware wont work. I own a 64gb gb and tested every which way not being afraid of “bricking it,” ultimately it cant be done at this time so im using my ipod to test 4.0 beta 2( p.s. this beta has a restore sync issue)
Omg big new, not that good news… My friend uncle works at Apple some software guy i think, told him (my friend) that they´ll wait and wont release 4.0 if theres no jailbreak for 3.1.3 and that this source code is to hard for all the hackers to brea, so thay will keep it and if it come´s an JB for 3.1.3 then they will release 4.0 -.-

cant be done, unless you had that specific ipod previously jaibroken before march 4th and have the 3.1.2. shsh stored away…I have a 64gb and the method they talk about above ONLY works on the 8gb models, because “technically” they are not new( check apple ipod web site n look at where the new labels are.)

4/27/10 – I jailbreaked my ipod touch using blackra1n. All i did was to download – iPod2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw – .. again.. choose 2G, 3.1.2 instead of 3G. Restore your ipod using this software, and after that you may then use Blackra1n.. When you get the “ASL.dll error”, transfer the blackrain.exe(you downloaded) to {C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support} and just create a shortcut to your deskop. Then you’re ready to run blackra1n without errors.. :) hope this helps..
in my case. i got stuck in Geo’s face for a while and then it went to recovery mode(the itunes and usb logo). All i did was to close blackrain, rerun blackrain while my itouch is in recovery mode. And there it went.. Jailbroken..
Specs: 8GB preinstalled with 3.1.3 > MC model..
I believe if you have a native (pre-installed) 3.1.3 model, then you’re out of luck.

Hey guys the easiest solution is out go to spiritjb.com download the file for ur type of computer, plug ur iPod in, run spirit and there u have it… Yes it works on allll iPods including ipad ! Has fun ! This jailbreak is so easyyy it’s not even funny :)
The smartest thing to do is to just wait for 4.0 to come out. Once Apple releases that, then every jailbreak program will update the software. The only bad thing is waiting.
