Jailbreak iPod touch 3.1.3 untethered
The iPhone 3.1.3 update that Apple released today caused people who updated to it to loose their jailbreak. My jailbreak iPod touch 3.1.3 post has instructions on how users can jailbreak their device with older jailbreak software. The jailbreak did not work for any iPod touch device, but you can prepare for it by following the instrutions below.
If you want to just jailbreak iPod touch 3.1.3, download iPhone userbar and you will receive an alert once the jailbreak is out. The user bar also has download links for the following firmware, so I recommend you download your firmware in advance so you can use it when you jailbreak.
- iPod touch 3.1.3 download (iPod1,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw, 241 MB)
- iPod touch 2g 3.1.3 download (iPod1,2_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw, 242 MB)
- iPhone 3g 3.1.3 download (iPod2,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw, 306 MB)
Jailbreak iPod touch 3.1.3: Untethered vs tethered
An tethered jailbreak means your iPod touch will need to go through a jailbreak process again if you restart it, and untethered means that you won’t have to jailbreak every time you restart because the jailbreak is permanent. The tethered jailbreaks started coming when Apple patched an exploit that allowed an untethered jailbreak.

hey what u do is go to google and type in jailbreak ipod touch 3.1.3 with redsnow 0.9.4 sometimes when u download that it says its forbidden so just down load redsnow 0.9.3 instead but make sure u have the .ipsw firmware 3.1.2 and YES i mean 3.1.2 firmware it doesnt matter if u are running on 3.1.3 and make sure ur on that version before u jailbreak. u paid 200 bucks 4 ur ipod touch do whatever u want with it.

yes, it will work on 1st gen ipods, as well as 2nd and 3rd gen, the only problem with the 3rd gen and newer 2nd gen, (the way to tell if its a 3rd/newer 2nd gen is to go: settings-general-about-model:MC… the older 2nd gen will be model:MB…) is that it will be a tethered jailbreak, so 1st and older 2nd gen ipods will be an untethered jailbreak, but newer 2nd gen and 3rd gen will be tethered.
what about for iPhone 3Gs 3.1.3? is there a working version? Or is there a release date for the new blackrain or jailbreak? i already updated and dont really want to wait much longer…

no, you cant do it on 3g ipod yet, it surrent has a newer model code, your gonna have to wait…i have a ipod 2g ML model, and another ipod 2g MC, the ML is older, and MC is newer..im going to have to wait until newer jailbreak comes out, until then, wait. idk if ill post another or not

Open the hosts file at”C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts” by a test editor and add line of
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
to bottom and save file.
Apply shift+restore and point the 3.1.2 fw to iTunes.
and itunes thinks it’s talking to apple
i think i read in june that an unteathered jailbreak is going to come out and will jail break the ipod touck 3gen, i have an ipod touch 3g running 3.1.2 and its teathered i HATE it. its a pain to use. i think its by redsn0w does anyone know any info on that future update??

I have a Ipod touch 1g. I updated from 2.2.1 to 3.1.3 through itunes. I tried redsn0w but it didn’t work. Any solutions? I tried downgrading to 3.1.2 and 2.2.1 but it didnt seem to work.
@Gabe, you’re screwed. Several people have said a 3.1.3 jailbreak will not happen for ipod touch 3g and iphone 3gs.
Why the hell did you upgrade to 3.1.3 anyways? And don’t play the “it was an accident card”. You may have accidentally hit restore/upgrade, but you also had to sit there for 5+ mins while the firmware downloaded, erased your ipod, and wrote the firmware to the device.

Why do you have to be such a fag it was a mistake alot of people think that they can restore their ipods and then stop the restore before it updates so yeah it was a mistake

I was at Toys R Us, a place where new shipments of new ipods dont come in often as at toys r us ipods arent “hot shit” i asked the guy how long has that 32gb ipod 3rd gen been there and he told me alomost a month, which i knew then that it wouldnt have the 3.1.3 firmware and i bought it. got it home, 3.1.2, tethered jailbroke it with blackra1n, runs a charm. sucks have to re break it if i shut it down, so i just dont shut it down lol. i was so nervous on the way home thinking about what the chances were that it had 3.1.3 firmware on it lol
There is a way around it if you accidently upraded your 3rd gen ipod touch to 3.1.3 , and if you check youtube there is a guy that if you look in his video notes , he gives you the downloads you need . First you will need to download the firmware for a 2nd gen and not a 3rd gen ipod ( 3.1.2 ) and use that when you restore with itunes . Just hold the shift key down and select that file . Then you should be able to use Blackra1n . I did this yesterday on a guy at works and was able to install Cydia and apps , but I dont know if the ipod is tethered or not .

Hello! Just to check one thing: i have a Ipod Touch 3G 32G, model MC, with 3.1.3 on it (I don’t konw what bootrom version this device have, I guess its the latest one…). It can be jailbreaked (even if its only a tethered jailbreak)?
