Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 safely
Apple released an iPhone 3.1.3 update that caused people who updated to it to loose their jailbreak. I made a jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 and a jailbreak iPod touch 3.1.3 post with instructions on how users can jailbreak their device with older jailbreak software. The jailbreak did work for iPhone 2G, but it is not the most user friendly method. but may work for iPhone 3G 3.1.3, iPhone 3GS 3.1.3, or iPhone first generation.
If you want to just jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3, download iPhone userbar and you will receive an alert once the jailbreak is out. The user bar also has download links for the following firmware, so I recommend you download your firmware in advance so you can use it when you jailbreak.
- iPhone 3.1.3download (iPhone1,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw, 241 MB)
- iPhone 3G 3.1.3 download (iPhone1,2_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw, 242 MB)
- iPhone 3GS 3.1.3 download (iPhone2,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw, 306 MB)

The two most popular jailbreak tool are blackra1n, and redsn0w but they’re not ready yet. Once they’re released I’ll update here and post a guide.

you said that blackra1n and redsn0w aren’t ready but is there any chance that the jailbreak for 3.1.2 will work on 3.1.3 ???

I made the mistake of trying to jailbrake with version 3.0 when i had 3.1.2 and it defected my SIM card.. i had to go get a new one, then jailbrake it with the same version as my phone was.. just a heads up.. you probably dont want to jailbrake with the wrong version..

Dude. okay if you try to use it for the 3.1.2 it will FUCK your phone. I just did it and im pissed off. the god damn thing doesn’t even turn on, and it friend my sim card.
hey… from yesterday till now i read all kind of posts about iPhone and this is why: yesterday i bought an iphone 3G from a friend in paris and imediately pufff i’vd updated to 3.1.3 before knowing about jailbreak and all that stuff… so what it’s going to happend now? There is any chance for my iphone to work like a phone to? With the help of redsn0w my iphone works but i can not make calls. I’vd tried many SIM-s (orange, vodafone etc) but no chance… HELP me with a tip please :) regards
in regards to having a french phone you can get it legally unlocked by ringing the original network supplier, which i believe is orange.
Previously done this when bought it 2 years ago in the South. If you ring them before 6 months or something fromm day of purchase you have to pay an amount if after they have to do it for free!
You can make the firmware downgrade you want, but the baseband update that comes with iPhone 3.1.3 update, remains 05.12.01.
So if you want to use your iPhone as an iPod touch while george hotz, make a real jailbrake and unlock, I recomend you to restore to 3.1.2 and do the jailbrake.
@OTRIVIN can you explain please how to downgrade from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2 i updated it by accidante and i’m a big user and fan of the jailbreak, entil they relese a new jailbreak for 3.1.3 software i wana use the 3.1.2
You cannont downgrade if you’ve updated to 3.1.3. The baseband has been upgraded and there are no tools to currently downgrade it. You’re going to have to wait until, hopefully, the process is cracked.
Don’t waste your time downgrading, even if you downgrade to 3.1.2 which i did last night sucessfully, your baseband WILL NOT get downgraded and there is NO UNLOCK as of yet for baseband 5.12
hey, you know how you posted a downloaded link for 3GS users, is this for the older bootrom (non-MC model)? or all model 3GS IPhones?
Does anyone know where i can find help? i have a jailbrocken iphone 2g and well i didnt know i wasn’t suppose to reset the phone. so by the time i know it didnt work. here is what i did i went to setting- general- reset- and know when i turn on my phone all i get is the apple and the spinning thing in the center that’s it can anyone help me or lead me to the way where i can fix it. thank you

you can do it with snowbreeze it will jailbrake your 3gs i did mine but i am struck without unlock.. still unlock is not available… enjoy your jailbroken device with snowbreeze… you will find all the process in youtube
I read all up on blackrain last night because Im very interested in unlocking my iPhone 3gs. I was hesitant until I found out that it can be uninstalled on your phone should you decide you no longer want/ or need to send to apple under warranty. So that made me extremely pumped and I was ready to go. I read step by step directions and it said to update my iPhone 3gs to the newest software update before jailbreaking it. I did so- and now I’m ticked off because it updated me to 3.1.3 and now everything I see is for 3.1.2. I really want to use blackra1n and do this but does anyone know when the software for windows- to- iPhone 3gs 3.1.3 will be available? I’ve googled this and I can’t get my questioned answered. Nothing for blackra1n for iPhone 3gs 3.1.3 pops up.
Also- can it really be done on the 3gs? I see conversation threads all over the internet and some are saying it supports the 3gs and others are saying it’s for the basic 3G. Will and when will they release the jailbreak with blackra1n for my 32gig 3GS 3.1.3? I paid almost 800$ for my phone and am not going to jailbreak it unless I know for certain it’s available for my specific phone and it works. Thanks guys. I’m getting impatient. Seems like forever.

I have a 3g was unlocked and Jailbroken! Kids put the phone on the computer to charge. Well they wanted to help dad and updated it for me. YES to 3.1.3 via itunes! Is there any way to correct or re-install 3.1.3 or lower. What can be done? I was using T-mobile I don’t want to use ATT! Help!

how do i know if i have 3.1.2 or 3.1.3?
you just go into
Settings>General>(at the top)>About it shows you all the tech specs about your iPhone
you hit settings, General , About
and you scroll down entil your cought up with a word ( Version ) and the number should be infront of it.
you can also know by simply plugging your iphone/ipodtouch in your itunes and check it out from there along with yor device name, pohne numebr(If its an iphone) and others.
you can also check the baseband AKA (Modem Firmware) if it’s 05.12.01 or an older version in the same page (settings, General and About) just go more down and you’ll cought up with it.

Please release this crack before the iPhone 4g is released, don’t pospone what can be done today, to tomorrow, who knows what Apple will do tomorrow, there will already be another firmware by then.

try downloading fuzzybznd from cydia to downgrade baseband
Um… because 3.1.3 can’t be jailbroken.
-> To have Cydia, one needs to be jailbroken.
So… in order to downgrade and become jailbroken, your method says they need to ALREADY be Jailbroken? Smoooth :P
